Whoa!!! I work nights and so I just was able to read about all the accolades Team Sherlock was able to collect! Amazing! Fantastic! Way to go people!

We still have to have living and breathing Holmes and Watson at the end of it all. That's all the expectations I dare have.

Oh my God -- Cumberbatch just won for best lead actor!

Woooo!!!

:grovel:

Oh, dear Lord, what was the sound I just made   I think i just uttered a little scream. It's so great - for all of the Sherlock team, of course, but I was really rooting for Martin and Benedict :boing::bouncy::applause:

Emmy tally here. 7/12, quite impressive.

Wonderful with so many nominations! In particular, I hope to see the following wins:

  • Best actors (leading and supporting). They were amazing in HLV.
  • Best music. HLV has one of the most hauntingly beautiful scores I've ever heard.
  • Best writing.

As for all the above: That scene in Baker St. with the Watsons' "domestic" is exquisite. I don't agree with everything Mary and Sherlock say, but that doesn't mean it's not excellent!

Wow. Talk about wish fulfillment.

Hmm...

I wish I had a million dollars!

... No? Okay.

I'm still amazed... I think I'll finally be able to sleep. Both Twitter and tumblr are blowing up with congrats & excitement for the wins.

Wins like this give serious validity to the show. I think will give more incentive to BC & MF to stay on till death do us part.

I think MF will win one of them for sure... but I do hope it's a SHERLOCK sweep night.

Your wish fulfilled.  I have to say I am really surprised that Billy-Bob Thornton didn't win.

All in all, it was a great night for Sherlock.  I was very surprised and pleased.  You can see Amanda Abbington's comments at this link:

https://twitter.com/CHIMPSINSOCKS

"Well, I'm very, very, very proud right now. Beaming you might say. Congratulations to the boys... Particularly to my love."

Here is the Radio Times article on this:

Here's the BBC story:

Of course, Benedict's Emmy win is the lead story at Cumberbatchweb:

I look forward to seeing quotes from Martin and Benedict about their wins

Thanks for all those links, Honey.  Ms. Abbington's Twitter page also has a YouTube video of Mr. Moffat's impromptu acceptance speech.

Radio Times refers to the Emmys as "one of America's most prestigious television events" -- one of ? yeah, I'd say!

Now I'm seeing that Sherlock, combining the prime time and the creative arts Emmys, won more than any other show? (3 prime time, 4 creative arts). Can anyone confirm this? I haven't been able to determine yet how many Breaking Bad won, as far as I can tell that's the only other contender.

I don't know why this matters to me..... another reason to gloat, I guess!

I have never cared about awards in my life. But then, I never really was a fan of anything until Sherlock came along. But I am now completely irrationally totally happy that Freeman and Cumberbatch each got an Emmy for their portrayal of Holmes and Watson, and that the writing of the show was honored as well (and for all we complain about His Last Vow, Moffat would have deserved something big long ago for A Study in Pink, so it's all good). I don't know why, but it makes me very contented, as if finally, something fair happened in this bad old world. :P

The commentator was asked if there were any surprises in the wins last night. He said no, but I for one, while pleased as punch that Sherlock pulled all of these wins out,was pleasantly surprised. It has been called a hat-trick, so not everyone was expecting it, if the meaning is as I am taking it. It's been feeling lately that Hollywood has been snubbing our boys a bit. Well they sure made up for it now.

I suspect that it's the old "outsider" thing.  If IMDb is to be believed (they haven't listed all of this year's wins yet), there were four Emmy nominations for "Study in Pink," but no wins.  There were 13 (!) nominations for "Scandal in Belgravia," but no wins.  But now that Team Sherlock has "paid their dues," they got 7 wins out of 12 nominations for "Last Vow."

Of course next time, they may be fighting the "already had their turn" syndrome!

Although vthe Emmy's have been known to continue giving the same shows the Emmy's time & time again. So as long as Sherlock remains deserving.

The few articles I read all indicated that it was quite a surprise -- A Normal Heart and Fargo were supposed to crush the competition. But I also noted that few articles cover it ... evidently "TV Movie" is not as prestigious a category as "Drama Series." (Or even Comedy Series.) Probably because they tend to be less well known. So if the commentator said there were no surprises, I'm willing to bet he meant in the "series" categories.

I swear I've been brain-washed, this is the first time ever I've bothered to read this kind of stuff ...
