You know your obsession is bad when you:

1) Find yourself looking at the Dartmoor tourism website.

2) Find yourself laughing hysterically that the "traveling with pets" portions of the website is called "Dog-Friendly Dartmoor."

I spent a good chunk of yesterday searching to see if they announced when filming would start in January so I could start a countdown.

Last time, they announced the exact date just one week ahead of time.

It's no use. I can feel the expectations build up again. Oh dear. The next episode is over a year away and I am already excited. At the same time, I am anxious as always that the series will take a direction I just can't get used to and will "go bad" for me like so many others before. I hate that. I wish series 4 was the last... Obsession at its worst, I guess. Time to grow up. I'll try that tomorrow...

Why grow up.  I tend to act about 10 years younger than I am depending on what I'm doing.  Which goes with the fact that I tend to act the age I look. Hmmm, maybe there's something to that.  It might explain (or help explain) the Sherlock obsession a little more.

I heard about that study but hadn't actually read any articles on it until you posted a link sitty.

I'm a bit worried about that funny photoshopped picture of Sherlock and John in period costumes. They're not going to time travel and go meet up with Dr Who or something like that, are they? Because I couldn't stand anything supernatural in stories about Sherlock Holmes.

Don't know what that means either.  I was wondering if there would be some sort of flashback or dream sequence that threw them to the Victorian Era for a few scenes.  With Moftiss anything is possible, plausible & highly unlikely all at the same time.

My other thought is Moftiss did that just for fun to throw us all for a loop, just because.  They do look dapper, dashing in the Victorian clothing.

I'm not worried about the photoshopped aspect -- they probably just realized (too late) that they didn't have any shots of them together.

I'm also not particularly worried that they'll do a Doctor Who crossover, though they could certainly dance around the edges without actually entering that territory.  Like (as has been suggested) they're dressed for a costume party, or going undercover at a theater.

You know you're obsessed when you argue with the previous post, to whit:

a. Are those Victorian outfits, or just formal attire?

b. Why would John grow a mustache in order to go to a theater?

c. I have trouble imagining Sherlock wearing a costume just for a party. Or consenting to go to, you know, a party.

For some reason, I don't worry about this show going pear shaped the same way I've worried about other shows I've really loved.  I figure that, above all, Moftiss love the ACD canon and won't do anything too serious that goes completely counter to that.  So, anything I might really worry about isn't in the canon and probably won't happen.  (For example, just to be bizarre, as much as I love to flirt with the idea of Sherlock, um, flirting, he's not going to wind up married with 17 kids in the next series, because canon Holmes didn't and that would be a ridiculous departure for no reason.  Now, good old "Three Continents" Watson might, but I really don't care as long as they get a good nanny and this doesn't turn into 'Two Detectives and a Baby.')

Was putting decorations on the Christmas tree today. Because of where the tree is, I have to climb over the armrest of a chair to hang some of the stuff. With how I was doing it (foot on armrest) I felt like Sherlock when he steps on his coffee table going to or from his sofa.

For research purposes, here's the photo in question:

a. Sherlock could go either way, but for John I'd say definitely a period costume.

b. I meant that they might be undercover at a theater -- i.e., pretending to be actors for a case.  And I doubt that John actually grew the mustache, it's probably part of his costume.

c. Good point -- OK, maybe they're undercover at a costume party?

a. Seems like Sherlock can go either way in a lot of areas.

b. Actors pretending to be detectives pretending to be actors. My brain just imploded.

c. Disguised as what? Sherlock Holmes and John Watson? :P

While Sherlock's costume could for the most part go either way, his tie is more Victorian than modern for that outfit.  (I haven't seen a modern anything with that type of bow tie.)

And I agree with the rest.  In costume for a case in some way, shape, or form.  Or at a costume party even if Sherlock is not really into that sort of thing.

I think they're wax figures of Sherlock and John. In one scene, Anderson will photobomb them. And in another, Moriarty will burn melt the heart out of them.

Specially made by the wonderfully talented people at Madame Tussaud's for the show :)  Are we sure Anderson would photobomb them?  There could be some crazy thing where Sherlock does it just because (think Benedict and his photobombs from this past year only in a more Sherlockian way that could be somewhat sarcastic or begrudgingly).

Benedict who? ;)

Have we hit our silliness quota for the year yet?

I keep running up against that very question.  At least Sherlock isn't wearing the deerstalker!

What? There's a quota? Who was the brains behind that as I ran past that quota years ago? :) :D
