In the middle of my marathon, started w/ the pilot and had to re-figure timing because of a 90 minute delay getting my kid.

Have we hit our silliness quota for the year yet?

b. Actors pretending to be detectives pretending to be actors. My brain just imploded.

... and possibly Actors pretending to be detectives pretending to be actors pretending to be detectives.

c. Disguised as what? Sherlock Holmes and John Watson? :P

I keep running up against that very question.  At least Sherlock isn't wearing the deerstalker!

Okay... well here's one.  In the mid-late 1980's there was a detective show out of Canada called DIAMONDS.  A couple of actors who had played married detectives in a show (because they were married), get divorced, show gets cancelled, and they open a detective agency.  My friend was one of the leads.  It was a great show.

You know you're obsessed when, to keep yourself from dying of boredom during present wrapping, you decide to turn on an episode.  You spend a lot of time trying to decide whether SiB or HLV is actually "Christmassier," because they both have Christmas scenes in them.

(Although I do consider getting rid of CAM to be the gift that keeps on giving, I committed heresy and watched an episode of Elementary I hadn't seen.)

Oh no, I will always choose SiB over HLV, especially for a "Christmas" story.

Hey, there's still plenty of baking and Christmas card-addressing to do.  Maybe I'll run them back to back tonight.

I gave up on Christmas cards this year.   I'm like the Christmas sloth.

I have to say that I think HLV is a little more Christmassy.  Plus we get the parents.  John and Mary make up.  Magnussen gets put down.  Permanently.

Just like Redbeard.

Not quite.  People were sad when Redbeard was put down.

For me, A Scandal in Belgravia is a lot "Christmassier". I can't really explain, but so it is. If I watched TV at all on Christmas (which I don't), then that would be the episode I'd choose.

I turn on an episode to check one little thing and suddenly it's 30 minutes later, and I'm still in the same episode...

I do that with the transcripts all the time. 1 set of lines becomes 3 pages later.

BTW, the eye roll and groan thing I couldn't remember is from HLV after Janine says she has an interview with the ONE SHOW and hasn't made it up yet.

In prior years, we have actually watched SiB as one of our holiday movies.  That was before HLV, but I still think I'd prefer SiB for my Christmas Sherlock -- at least so far.  If the "Christmas" special turns out to be festively Christmassy, we may well switch to that in future years.

I think Gatiss and Moffat must have a special love for Christmas.

Glad you figured it out. Sherlock has rolled his eyes after someone said something a few times over the years do I understand the challenge of finding the right one.

But Sherlock hates it so much!

Mycroft hates it for sure.  Sherlock... maybe not as much so.  After all, he did allow the flat to be decorated and have a party there... and apparently has done it before from Mrs. Hudson's comment about it being the one day of the year they have to be nice to her.

Also, he uses "Christmas" as his expression for something really nice.

You know your obsession is bad when you wake up at 3 a.m. and promptly go on this forum because you realize you haven't responded to the "Sherlock hangman" game yet.

You know your obsession is bad when you wake up with a bunch of Sherlock 'Christmas' quotes in your head.
For instance I'm planning on sending a text:
"It's been Christmas Day for at least a week now, how can it only be two o'clock? I'm in agony."
to my mum. (since I won't be with her this Christmas Eve)

SANTA: And what do you want for Christmas, Sherlock?

SHERLOCK: A murder.

SANTA:

SANTA:  Sherlock, you got a murder last year for Christmas.

SHERLOCK:  But I did that one myself!

SANTA:  Welcome to adulthood.  We all wind up buying our own presents.

So droll!  So droll!  Sherlock humor is the best!!!

Okay, so i have this .jpg that reads "I speak fluently in movie quotes" and I'd prefer one that said, "I speak fluently in Sherlock quotes" in the Sherlock font.  Can anyone on this forum make that for me?  Pretty please?

I might be able too in a few hours. About to watch TIG then it's about an hour home plus stop at parents to get some stuff first.
