Are you ever too exhausted to even say hello to people? Just accidentally-deliberately didn't see my neighbour because I just didn't have the energy.

I do that all the time. It's my natural state of being.

Apparently it's guilt trip time again. I sent my eldest brother a birthday card, got a message back saying 'hey, thanks for the card! Maybe you can come and see us in Tenby at the end of the month!' Meaning, he wants me to drive there to visit when he and the fam go to visit his mother in law there. *sigh* How is it a thank you has a  demand/request for more tacked onto it? I am busy, they might have time off, doesn't mean that I do. And I don't know why the hell they want to see me so much anyway.

But you do know that Tenby is the home of Sherrinford location, don't you?

ETA: and if you have seen Third Star - Barafundle Bay is just around the corner.

Well aware, it's only an hour or so away so I've been there plenty of times.

I've been to Barafundle Bay a few times too. :D

You know we were talking a while ago about toenails falling off? Looking at the state of mine I think it might be about to. I can't even remember what I did, I have a vague memory of dropping something on my foot, but I think I was in a rush at the time so just thought 'sh*t, that hurt' and immediately put it out of my mind. Toenail is black now and not looking healthy...

Maybe they love you. Or worry about you. Or are planning to rob your house while you're gone.

No, they just have this overly neurotic need that the kids grow up knowing their extended family, honestly I think my brother and his wife are much more bothered about it than the kids actually are. And they have this bad habit of just siccing the kids on someone and leaving them to it. I'm still traumatised by the last time I was guilted into spending the day with them - I was under the impression it would just be a meal, but I was practically kidnapped (well not practically, I was literally trapped in their car and driven off in the opposite direction to where I'd parked, without being asked or told where we were going), and then my brother and his wife happily walked off ahead whilst I was left with a kid literally dangling off each arm, yelling, and pulling, and nagging, and.... argh!  😬

Let me get this straight now -- the woman they're planning to visit is your sister-in-law's mother?  Someone you met maybe once, at their wedding?  And they think you should visit her?

Posted

Nooo, they think I should visit them whilst they're in the general vicinity, which they are just because they are visiting the sister-in-laws mother. They'll be there for a few days, I wouldn't be seeing the mother.

Definitely hit the afternoon slump.

And this vicinity is nowhere near where you live?  But they actually live near you, right?  Wouldn't it make a lot more sense for them to invite you to visit them when they're at home?  Or is the MiL's area supposed to be a nice place for a vacation?

No, they live in Newcastle, which is about 400 miles away, where as Tenby is about 60 miles away. But what gets me is they are probably going to drive through my city to get to Tenby. If they wanted to see me that badly they could arrange to meet up where I am, but no, they have to make it difficult and try to get me to go to them.

Been out walking this morning. I've been lamenting my lack of tadpole sightings to anyone who'll listen, and then usually go on to bemoan the fact I've never seen a newt (in the wild) though I've always wanted to. Guess what I saw today? Whole puddle/pools full of tadpoles and newts. I was thrilled. I was also on my own when I spotted them, so ended up walking along grinning to myself like a nutter. :D :D :D

I haven't seen a tadpole since I was a kid. Where have they gone?

I was cleaning the bathroom today and discovered something behind the toilet that looked like a large kind of worm. Shrieked, dropped my rag and ran. My gallant husband, hearing the commotion, came to check on me and when he heard my story ventured into the bathroom with a bucket and tongs to catch the strange vermin. Shortly after, he came out laughing. It was nothing but a broken hair elastic that I had lost a while ago.

I need new glasses, I am afraid.

Until today I haven't seen any since I was a kid either. It's weird.

LOL! I can imagine him gingerly venturing in with the tongs. :D

Things I like today:

Catching grown men rocking out alone in their cars.

Things I dislike today:

The constant updates about the minutiae of the royal wedding, which I have zero interest in.

I don't even know when the wedding is going to be exactly. The media over here has been covering it but I haven't really been paying attention.

I like that I have been able to get into work early before anybody else is there and use the peace and quiet to actually get something done without being interrupted all the time.

I just googled it and it's this Saturday, Thank God I don't live there.

No disrespect to the couple, but I've been avoiding the wedding too. It just feels like eavesdropping or something ... what business is it of mine? I like them both, from what little I know of them, but really .....

What's getting on my pip is that I have news alerts on my phone, I don't watch the news and I missed a few important things so decided to install the alerts so that when something serious happens it comes up on my phone, just the headline. And yesterday I got 'Meghan's father may not attend the wedding!'

Really? REALLY? Is that worth sending out a news alert about?!

The only alert I want to see on my phone is if a tornado is heading my way. Otherwise, leave me alone!

(Funnily enough, I seem to have gotten my wish ... my area recently tested a warning system, which was supposed to ping ALL cellphones. Welp, it didn't ping mine. Yay!)

Don't worry, I got an alert this morning that he'll be escorting her down the aisle after all.  That's nice and I'm happy for them, but I don't even know these people!

What really bugs me, though, is the Facebook alerts.  I'd be happy to get an alert when someone sends me a message. But what I've mostly been getting (sometimes several times a day!) basically boils down to this:  Hey, we just noticed that one of Joe Schmoe's Friends has your email address on their computer.  So maybe you know Joe!  Why don't you ask him to be your Friend?

Every time I get my Facebook preferences set up the way I want them, Facebook changes their system and apparently sets me to the social-butterfly defaults.  Must be time to set them myself again.
