Glenn Close in a zombie film? Sounds like a must-rent to me! :d

It was just annoying because it had such potential but I found it really boring. How can they manage to make a zombie film boring ffs?

Priceless 9.5/10 Johnspec and I watched it today. It's well written and acted. It's an indie film that released this weekend in the US. It covers human trafficking and is based on actual events. I haven't checked into what events exactly. But it's still worth the watch if you can handle it. It's pg-13.

Too bad I don't think it's released widely, as haven't seen any sign of it.

Watched The Accountant over the weekend, hesitated because I'm very indifferent and close to avoiding Ben Affleck, but heard good recommendation, so I did.

And I like it, not sure how to explain it. It's simple yet complicated and there are unexplored layers but it's fine that way. Maybe a bit of bias because there are things that remind me of myself and I feel like a total geek for spotting things I shouldn't have (like arrangement of stuff that normal people don't give a bleep. :p

Give it a 8.5/10.

And watched The Inferno. It's fine, usual Dan Brown like previous movies. I don't feel anything after I left the theatre though. 7/10

Was it better or worse than Angels and Demons? I didn't care much for the first movie, but I rather enjoyed A&D.

Okay, pass on Inferno then! Next! :d

I saw Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children last week.

I only went cos I'd read the book and wanted to see what the film was like.

Tim Burton pulled out all the stops of course, so it seemed much scarier than I remember the book being!

I think I preferred the book.

I know what you mean. I love Nightmare Before Christmas but the rest of Burton's films just ... try too hard, or something.

Denial 9.5/10 It was amazing. Saw it with Johnspec today. Well acted, scripted, and directed. I wanted to punch Timothy Spall's character the moment he started talking. The part at Auschwitz had me almost in tears. Mark's Germanic accent was believable. (It didn't sound like a Brit trying to do a German accent). I know it currently is in limited release here in the US but it is definitely worth watching if you can find it.

Oh yes, I've really been wanting to see that, thanks for the reminder. I haven't even seen an ad for it.

12 Years a Slave - 9/10

I've seen this movie earlier, about an year ago, and wanted to rewatch and show it to my boyfriend. It was an excellent movie and very grim to think that it was based on true story. Humankind has so many dark things in its history.

Also, wanted to see it again because of our dear Sherlock Benedict (of course :D) and my another favorite actor, Michael Fassbender. Both were brilliant, as always.

Yeah, that was excellent.

Cool.

Which reminds me of that I wanted to see 'Pride & Prejudice and zombies' , haha....missed it when it was in cinema.

Next up after Dr.Strange will be 'Swiss Army Man' with Daniel Radcliffe as farting drowned corpse.  I love the weird stuff, also it had good reviews after the Fantasy Film Festival, I missed it there because it was sold out already a few days before.

"Wilde" - 8/10, I'd say. I had been wanting to see that film for a while and even though I had already heard how perfect Stephen Fry was for the role, I was still very impressed. The casting in general is perfect.

I saw 1 ad for it on tv last weekend. It is worth the hunt to find it in a theater.

I love 'Wilde'.

Have you seen that Colin Morgan is going to play Oscar Wilde soon?

Found it. All small "art" cinemas, none of them near me. Good thing I own a DVD player.

I drove about an hour to see it in a theater older than me where the seating was more flat than modern theaters are. I think it was flatter than our state's orchestra hall which doesn't rise very high for floor seating.

I'm actually looking forward to that one.

Flat seating theatre..! It reminds me of good memories of uni, when we watched movies in shabby theatre that show couple of weeks late movies for 50 cents. Worth it.

Agreed it was worth it. My son and I ended up sitting near the back Judy's so we wouldn't have the age old stereotypical cartoon experience of seeing it by being to close. I don't need a stiff neck from craning my head back that far.

Sorry, I've lost track. What movie are we talking about?

The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do the Time Warp Again

6/10

Well, I shouldn't have gotten my hopes too far up for a Rocky Horror reboot designed to appear on prime time, broadcast television, but I did.  It's not that the cast didn't work hard for this one - the actors who played Brad, Riff-Raff, and Columbia, especially, were stellar - but that Laverne Cox, for all of her effort, is simply not Tim Curry.  Curry's Frank-N-Furter is all about alternately scaring you and thrilling you with your own sexuality.  Cox, who played a female Frank, puts the "sweet" in "sweet transvestite" a little too much.

Look, Rocky is not a film that needs modernized with decent production values.  It is, at heart, a raunchy, campy, vaguely disturbing rite of passage that is best enjoyed at a midnight showing after a few drinks while you are still in college.  Turning it into something broadcast-worthy, ironically, removes some of the social commentary inherent in the film, and it definitely removes some of the fun.

They lost me at about the point that Frank visits Janet and Brad in their bedrooms in turn, apparently, in this version, for a cuddle.   ;)

Ugh, a Rocky Horror reboot - that sounds bad.

I just saw something worse though: Batman v Superman. I said I wanted something mindless and silly after Wilde yesterday - I think husband took that a bit too seriously...
