Arrrgghh ... I hate to say it, but my first reaction was, those are all the things he needed to remember in order to get her to do his bidding .... except for the Christmas scene. And he didn't need his memory then, she was standing right in front of him. Sorry!!! 35o46Bs.gif

Obviously, I disagree with you... but I would agree with you in the instance from TBB.  That was 100% Sherlock being manipulative.

The lipstick comment didn't serve a purpose.  She starts to ask him if he'd like to get coffee, he interrupts her asking about the lipstick, then she goes back to finishing asking him to coffee.  Which he accepts, but not in the way she intended.  I don't think the lipstick had a thing to do with the coffee "misunderstanding."

The three pounds was't Sherlock getting her to do anything, it was part of his telling her that Jim is gay because isn't that kinder?  lol

Christmas scene we agree on.

TSOT scene... Sherlock is going to ask for Molly's help, but I don't feel like he's manipulating her anymore.  Anyhow, as it doesn't matter because Molly owns Sherlock in this scene and it's delightful to watch him squirm.

Tom... I think Sherlock tried to remember Tom's name because it was important to Molly.  He managed to remember his name in the TSOT lab scene and here again.  Why he is bothered to remember Tom and not Greg?  Eh.  But I don't think he remembers Tom's name out of any sort of manipulation.

Disagree away! I told you what my first reaction was, but I didn't say what my second reaction was, did I? :P

I am just going to put this here, because if anything says these two belong together, imo this picture is it.....
s7wYuOu.jpg

What a couple of impish loons! They look like they almost got caught snogging out in the hallway....

By the way, help! This most recent X-Files and all the stuff with Scully's Mom and family ... why was it so creepy, and why was it in this episode? Did it in some way relate to the actual mystery, or was it just unrelated backstory? Oh, and was the guy at the end the real artist after all? Help, I'm confused!

(Scully and Mulder had a kid??? Is this common knowledge? Or may I delete the spoiler box? )

I believe that is fairly common knowledge, Arcadia... they had the kid at the end of Season 8.  There was this whole ridiculous "who da baby daddy?" thing surrounding where William came from because Scully technically had no ova left (thanks shady underground govt organization who abducted her!).   As far as the Maggie Scully thing, that was unrelated to the case.  There were echoes back (you saw the flashbacks) to previous X-Files (Scully being in the hospital dying, Scully needing to work when her dad died), but otherwise it had nothing to do with that specific case.   The whole band aid man/tulpa thing left me really confused.  I don't think they resolved it so much.  Or maybe I need to watch it again?   It wouldn't be the first X-File they never really solved.  Duchovny LOVES to say that they're the worst FBI agents ever.  lol

That is an adorable picture, btw.  They're so cute together in that moment.. playful almost even.

Okay, then it sounds like I didn't miss as much as I thought I did. :P Thanks!

Flirty, almost even!  ^_^

A little off-topic, but I'm 99% convinced at this point that most of the ships that I ship have as much to do with the natural chemistry of the actors to anything else.  And I don't mean that in the sense that the actors are in love or even meant or destined to be together, but they just have chemistry.  Because of all the ships I ship, the actors themselves are adorable around each other, even outside the roles.  So I blame that.  It's not me, it's them!

Examples:

David Duchovny/Gillian Anderson (Mulder/Scully)

Norman Reedus/Melissa McBride (Daryl/Carol - Walking Dead)

Even Benedict and Loo are adorable people together

None of those people are couples or necessarily anything more than good friends, nor have they ever been, something just clicks...  a certain je ne sais quoi.

Hell, Chris Carter maintained FOREVER that Mulder and Scully were totally platonic, but he had to eventually give up on that b/c the chemistry between Duchovny and Anderson just made it seem too implausible.  lol

Ah, that was from Ian Hallard (Mark Gatiss's husband, who played Moriarty's defense attorney). Good of him to share his thoughts on the matter.

Someone lately sent a Mystrade picture to Mark on Twitter and he didn't seem amused at all.
It looks like the post is deleted now.

The makers didn't seem to be amused either as someone asked ship-related question at Sherlocked. I had an imprssion that the moderator tried very much to be polite :P

I still cannot wrap my mind around the fact that some people actually take Johnlock seriously. They miss so much fun.

And it irritates the hell out of me when someone picks some bits and pieces out of context completely denying the rest. Again, it's like the Moon Landing Conspiracy. :picard:

Hear hear. Especially that last bit ... stuff like that has always raised my blood pressure, for some reason. Conspiracy theories in general just drive me bonkers, it all sounds so inane to me. Oh well, someone will have the last laugh someday, I guess.... Naturally I just assume it will be me.

Definitely, me too -> X-files, sure always, but recently very much 'Caryl 'shipping....

Sherlolly is a cute ship, but I'm kinda more 'convinced' about Johnlock and the Sherlock/Irene-thing....no idea where that comes from.

and speaking of the gay-coupling of straight actors/actresses and chemistry they can't even be blamed for because it's just magically there - how about Rizzoli & Isles (aka 'Rizzles')? Just look at them, they are adorable! :D

Okay, to be fair, Cumberbatch and Freeman have great chemistry too! (At least, on screen.)

I don't think the Johnlock "ship" is unfounded; I see a lot more justification for it than I do a Sherlock/Molly "ship", for instance. (And I don't see any at foundation at all for the Mystrade ship, to me that's just weird. )  I just think the whole "conspiracy" thing has been taken much too far.

I'm sure I've said it on here before, but my theory for Mystrade: It is based (at least in part) on Lestrade's line in HOB where he tells Sherlock that he does not always do what Mycroft says.  Personally I don't see it.  I could see Lestrade trying to get Molly first based on ASIB Christmas party scene.

Plus he sat next to her at the wedding. The seating was apparently pre-determined by Mary and Sherlock, but maybe they (i.e., she) thought Greg might appreciate it!

Yes, I remember you saying that. But that's the kind of thing I mean by "taking it too far" -- one line? Out of 10 episodes? When we don't know if the two men have even met in person, ever? That's just wilful invention, not sussing out clues, imo.

On the other hand, I don't get the same vibe off the "Mystrade" ship ... I think that really is people just having fun imagining stuff, not insisting there's some big conspiracy to  .... to do whatever it is the conspiracy is supposed to do. (Why would there be a conspiracy, again?)

Because some in the fandom like a conspiracy or at least like to look for one even when it's not there probably do to Moftiss leaving something open ended or having long-running jokes.

Well, some people just are drawn to conspiracies, period. Otherwise there wouldn't be so many, I guess.

So there should be a Morilock out there I suppose?

I really am clueless. :p

It exists and is usually called Sheriarty.

The pairing names that I know of (& the paired characters):

Johnlock: John & Sherlock

Sherlolly/Mollock (not sure why the 2nd one): Molly & Sherlock

Adlock: Irene & Sherlock

Mystrade: Mycroft & Lestrade

Sheriarty: Sherlock & Moriarty

Mylock (shudders at the thought of that one...I'll pass on reading those): Mycroft & Sherlock

Sherstrade: Sherlock & Lestrade

Mormor: Moriarty & Sebastian Moran

I have seen Sherlock paired with just about everyone but his mother, Mr. Chatterjee, Donovan, Anderson, & Stamford

Agreed but also  that he is paired with certain people that in just about every society I have ever studied, the relationships would be taboo even today (& I'm not talking Johnlock, Sherstrade, or Sheriarty or any of the ladies he's paired with).
