Oh but that didn't deter her from going into the bathroom....and he certainly didn't try to throw her back out or even yell at her to do so....even quietly because John was still there. If he really was trying to avoid her advances, why not put a lock on the door...if it didn't have one already. Or why even allow her to spend a night at the flat.  It sounded very intimate......I get the feeling he wasn't trying to avoid her at all. All part of his plan to get her to let him into the penthouse. Hence an engagement ring.

Indeed it did. And very affirming too!  :giggle:

I find it a wonderful contradiction that Sherlock can decipher all types of clues except when Irene is making an advance on him.  Very telling that it's going straight over his head when he says, "Why would I want to have dinner if I'm not hungry?"

He gave me the impression of hugely enjoying himself, actually. And why not? Janine is a pretty girl and I can't imagine any man seriously objecting to a bit of the kind of attention she was giving him...

Oh, I can think of a few men... But yes, Sherlock does love attention, doesn't he? :D

Or is he just playing along to keep her distracted, so he can take her pulse?   Not saying that I know the answer!

No pun intended, but sometimes he is clueless, especially in matters of the heart.  However, from Series 1 - episode 1 to Series 3 - episode 3, I see quite a bit of character growth.  He has in fact learned to form emotional bonds, even with Irene (whatever that bond is, it is enough for him to put his life in danger to save her at the end).  Mycroft sees this as a character flaw in Sherlock - the ability to care - as that ability gets Sherlock into lots of trouble, especially in Series 3.

Cant remember which episode Mycroft says that Sherlock wanted to be a pirate when he was younger, but then I got to thinking, he gets to do a little swashbuckling now and then, so he does get a bit of that fantasy come true.

It was in "ASiB" when Mycroft is meeting with John at Speedy's to break the news that Irene was dead at the hands of the terrorists in Karachi.

Sherlock Holmes was supposed to be a  champion sword fighter. I think that Sherlock has a sword somewhere in his room....maybe it's shown in the scene where John has to help a drugged Sherlock back to bed....but anyway.....would love to see our Sherlock actually get to use it. There was the sword brandishing at the end of "ASiB" but we don't get to see a lot of it.

There's an episode early on, must be the first season, where he brandishes the sword in the apartment.

Aaahhh okay. I'm not remembering that but I haven't watched any Sherlock in awhile.

As I have seen all 9 episodes - now multi times - in a very short amount of time, I'm still having trouble remembering which minor things go with which episode, but it's getting better.

The sword fighting scene is at the beginning of TBB :)

Yeah. Though I'm not sure whether it was Sherlock who used the sword or the "heavily robed person" :)

You do remember that right - Sherlock defends himself unarmed against the scimitar-wielder (he's in the lower left corner here):

Okay, so when Irene is receiving pictures of a sheet-clad Sherlock on her cell phone and pictures of John and Sherlock in the car, who is feeding her those pictures?  Moriarty?

Posted

That's my take on it.

I believe I remember a text saying something like "I'm sending you a treat" but I don't remember if it said who it was from.

In the conclusion of the pool scene, we heard Jim talking on his phone.  Then saw Irene ending a call.  So we were supposed to assume that the two of them were in cahoots from the beginning.  Unlike a number Moftiss's suggested assumptions, this one is actually borne out near the end, when Irene tells Mycroft and Sherlock that Jim Moriarty gave her the idea.

So in short, yes, I assume it was Jim (or possibly one of his henchmen) sending her those photos.

Now that I think about it, though, exactly how was Jim supposed to have orchestrated Sherlock's involvement?  Irene already had "her highness" as a client, so that wasn't it.
