Oh, so it is. Thanks. I was on my phone and tapped on it, and that photo came up. But now I see that the same thing happens if I click anywhere in the article, which must therefore be an image of an article. Much easier to notice the difference when you (or at least I) can see the cursor turn into a little pointy finger or arrow or whatever.

Been there, done that, that's how I guessed what was happening.

So I saw my "lovely" aunt today. She was charming as ever, she called me ungrateful and a bad daughter because "I don't care about my dad" guess I'm not invited to the annual family gathering fdf880c2ee89318e245ad452e770544e.jpg

Wow, she sounds like a real delight.

Your poisonous aunt will expire sooner or later, whatever craziness she have brewing in that head is wholly hers alone. You, keep good relation with the rest of the extended family if possible. Discard what is not working as it would only hinder you in the future.

Terror attack in Sweden.

I heard it, another attack with a truck. My thoughts go to Sweden.

Oh god, I hadn't heard. Geez.

Um, changing to a different topic, does anyone else have an issue with their cats eating plastic bags?

Posted

Nope, but my nephew has one that eats clothes.

Oh, good heavens yes -- or at least we used to. Claude was a plastic-bag junkie, or perhaps I should say connosseur, since he preferred #4 (LDPE). We finally started putting all plastic bags where he couldn't get at them.

My dog ate threads and yarns. One meter after another, like spaghetti. With a look of a junkie getting his fix.

I've never heard of a dog doing that, but some cats do, and it's very dangerous, since it can act like a drawstring in their intestines.

Oh yes, my Jamal was addicted to strings and rubberbands. Had to watch him like a hawk if any of those things were around. And margarine. I don't know why, but for some reason my family used to leave the margarine out on the table every day ... until Jamal came along. Now we keep it in the fridge where it belongs.

My mother still has the habit of leaving leftover soup in the pot, sitting on the stove. I've always wondered why, she's always been careful about putting away everything else that should be refrigerated (except margarine. ) But in her mind, soup is supposed to be left out. I've always assumed it's something to do with her country upbringing, but she can't remember why she does it, so I'll never know.

It is so quiet here.... Where are the new and old members? Is this also happened after the season 3 released?

Posted

I joined about 7 months after series 3 and it seemed more active then than it did shortly after series 4 finished.

*nod* It is the same on Ao3 after S4, maybe the Eurus situation doesn't inspire fans and especially fanfic writers enough?

Posted

After S3, it was clear there was another series coming (plus the special) - now, not so much. That probably has to do with it, too.

I have read something similar at Tumblr - even if I don't know if the author was also meaning JL - it seems be a general mood. Like after a hurricane when everybody is checking damages and try to re-arrange and adjust to a new situation.
I have to say that I'm not in the mood of doing new S4 stuff either, TBH.

Maybe it's too much of :wtf: s to be happy chatting about it.

The outbreak of TJLC nastiness have probably silenced some people too.

If I want to remember anyone's name or face that I'm not seeing regularly I have to make a point of remembering it. There is a 'mega memory' technique that I use to remember things where I have tie something to something else via a story - it works well and is quite simple for names as long as I consciously remember to do it. Normally, unless it's someone new that I will be interacting with regularly, then I don't bother.

What is mega memory? May you teach or explain how you do?

I agree with you.

I heard that. I'm sorry.  :(

I don't understand how it might influence people's mood to talk about it.

She probably grew up cooking on a woodstove, right?  Same as my mom.  I don't recall ever hearing Mom talk about how they handled soup, but I've read that it used to be common to keep a pot of soup-in-progress on the (literally) back burner, where it could simmer gently, 24/7.  Every time you had some veggie trimmings, meat bones, etc., you'd toss those into the pot.  I guess it was more like making broth, because I assume you'd strain out the bones and potato peels -- maybe dip out some of the liquid and add meat, veggies, etc. to make actual soup.

Has your mom always stored leftover soup on the stove, or is this a more recent development?

Yeah, me neither.  In addition to what you said, I think it's the frequency of negative comments.  Kinda puts a crimp in my attempts to enjoy the show.  I finally started reading the T6T thread, but doubt that I'll go much further.

Well just for starters, speculations on how events will affect S5 seems a bit moot if it's not sure that there will be an S5.

That makes sense. How about the analytical and the fix-it crowds of the fandom?
