Same here Arcadia. I no longer have cable and my parents don't have premium channels. And any hotel I might be Holiday if at while it's on will likely have HBO.

If anyone else was acting this part I don't know if I'd watch the show, but I will have to give it a look.

Yeah, probably same for me. Although the promised humor appeals to me. Hope it's my kind of humor.

Good grief, when does the man sleep?

He’s certainly in demand.

He's quite young for this post.  I wonder if he proposes to stay in it for 31 years like his predecessor.

The other thing that's amazing about Bendi is the strength of his hair follicles.  His hair seems to show no ill effects of all the various dye jobs he undergoes in the course of his work.  This photo here is a nice shot of Ben with his natural assets but he's been platinum blond to raven black and all the colors of the rainbow in between.  He changes up his hair more than any supermodel.

Maybe it's a wig? :D

Perish the thought.  I really don't think so.  He seems to have remarkably fast-growing hair, because it doesn't seem like it would be possible to get all the dye out completely between jobs.

On balance, he seems to keep his hair dark for a lot of jobs, not just Sherlock.  For his stage run as Hamlet, he had his own natural ginge back, making him possibly our first redheaded Hamlet.  Natural ginge Sir Kenneth Branagh  had done his Hamlet as a peroxide blond--Not one of Ken's better aesthetic decisions.

Or it’s a wig. :P

What color was Mel Gibson’s hair when he played Hamlet? It’s been so long since I’ve seen it.

If that's a wig, it's the most natural-looking one in existence.  I see that Bendi is back to his natural color for his miniseries 'Patrick Melrose'.

He complained that Sherlock talks so fast, it exhausted him, but he seems to talk at super-fast speed all the time, pretty much.

Mel's hair and beard were dark brown, ie, his natural color.  Mel surprised a lot of people, I think, with Shakespearean chops nobody gave him credit for having previously.  Director Franco Zefferelli said that he decided to cast Mel as Hamlet after seeing him in the 'Riggs Puts a Gun in HIs Mouth' scene in 'Lethal Weapon'.  He thought Gibson had a very suitable intensity for the Prince of Denmark.

Just did some Googling; looks like he was more of a blondish?

Oh, whoops, too right.  What was sticking in my memory was the movie poster/DVD cover where Mel's hair and beard look decidedly darker, whether it was undyed for those or just photographed darker.

This is a more realistic lightening effect than used by Sir Ken, but I'm wondering why so many interpreters feel compelled to make the Melancholy Dane a blond.  Was this the fashion even prior to Laurence Olivier's seminal film of Hamlet, in which Sir Larry is white-blond?  That artistic decision may have been made in part due to filming in B&W, for greater contrast.  Hamlet's blond hair really stands out because he is always depicted in black clothing.  But insofar as I can recall, there is nothing textually suggesting any particular hair color for Hamlet.  There are a fair number of blond Danes, of course, being Scandinavian stock . . but not *all* Danes are blond.  Mads Mikklesen is a Dane and his hair and eyes are as dark as mine (brown in both cases.)

Mel was so young here . . only 34, which was the same age Branagh was, but Ken seemed older, aged further by the ridiculous hair and mustaches.

I know . .this really doesn't seem like you, Herlock.  :)

We can blame google! Everytime I go to use it there are a number of ‘news’ items. Usually drivel about soap operas and celebrity gossip. I’ll post anything related to the forum though.

I like how the article says he's in an all black ensemble when it's clear that his near-midnight blue tux is not black when standing next to someone in a black tux.

I've never understood why those things show you photos of the happy couple, then proceed to describe everything they're wearing. Yes, yes, I have eyes, thank you!

Herlock's already been around here too long, he's being corrupted....  Welcome to the insanity, Herlock! :p

Wouldn't that be "a paparazzo" (with an o)?  Unless you're twins, of course.

Thanks Arcadia.

This is the deal. The minute that I start posting fashion comments or stuff about who is dating who. Or I start showing the remotest interest in shoes.......then you’ll know that it’s time to give me the boot

But shoes and boots are fun to talk about ;)

Yes I'm joking as I don't really talk about shoes much except from a more practical standpoint.

Did someone mention shoes?
