No, because that evokes thoughts of Sherlock/Molly/Mycroft in my mind and I'd rather not think of that

I have no idea how I missed voting in this thread before today. :o  Definitely Sherlock for me...but I like all of them in their own crazy, sometimes demented ways. :)

My favorite character is definitely Sherlock.

He's brilliant, impatient with conventional behavior or thinking, and comes up with some of the most deliciously horrid, testy remarks and insults that I've enjoyed in a long time. At the same time, with the right people, he knows how to deliver incisive personal analysis with a dose of tact and compassion, as he did when he reasoned with John about why John's penchant for dangerous situations made it not-so-surprising that he'd fallen in love with a former assassin.

Glad to have found the right place to gush about Andrew Scott's Moriarty! ;)

While i'm thankful to the creators for keeping Sherlock and John very close to the original Holmes and Watson, i'm equally grateful for their awesome reinvention of Moriarty.

For me the favourite character question is a close call between Sherlock and Moriarty, and if Moriarty wins in my mind then that's majorly because he's not given a lot of screen time, so that when he does appear the impact is quick and deep.

To me the series was all about Cumberbatch and I had eyes for no one else, until that pool scene in TGG simply blew my mind. Moriarty held me entranced for those few defining moments, and when the camera did turn around to face Sherlock, my first thought was how tame, and human, Sherlock looked in the aftermath. He actually looked weak by comparison; and in my mind he never fully regained his aura of near-invincibility. That one scene knocked a bit of the sheen off Sherlock for me, forever.

(And I havent even seen The Reichenbach Fall yet, just started watching it today and got as far as that scene with Moriarty wearing the crown - it's beyond awesome)

But as i mentioned before, limiting Moriarty's screen time is key here. I do not think Moriarty's awesomeness can survive the amount of exposure Sherlock gets, so Sherlock really scores big there.

To play Moriarty the way Scott does requires intellect in addition to expressive body language, and I was highly impressed with what Andrew Scott had to say in his very interesting 'Sherlocked' solo panel discussion (i read the transcript on the Sherlockology website and it is my favourite, with Moftiss' coming second)

Yes, casting Andrew was a stroke of genius.

My favorite character is Moriarty, followed by Molly Hooper strangely enough.

Unique combination. What is your reason to choose them?

Well, I like Moriarty because I find him quite quotable and I like myself a good old-fashioned villain ;) .

And I like Molly Hooper I think because she reminds me a bit of myself, she even works in the same field I wish to. :P

I couldn't chose between Sherlock, John or Greg

But I just love Greg, I don't know why I just find him really interesting to watch. Without Sherlock Gatiss and Moffat have said he would be the main character. I think Graves has done a miracle making him interesting and not just a plot device. Look closely at his chemistry with Sherlock.

Yes, they did a really good job with Lestrade. And they basically had to create a new character, because he's so vague in the stories - Doyle can't even agree with himself on how he's supposed to look.

It's amazing to me how beloved even the "minor" characters are in this show -- Molly, Lestrade, Mrs. H. Even Moriarty. Minor in the sense of having very little screen time, but they each have a huge impact.

Oh, of course that I chose Sherlock... But it's hard question, because I like every character. :)

Except Donovan... Hah!

I even sort of like Donovan. :p

Me too!  And I suspect if I'd been in her position, I'd have done pretty much the same things she did.  Ditto if I'd been in Anderson's position.  It's not their fault that Sherlock is the star of the show!

Really, the only thing I don't like about Donovan is the use of the word 'freak'. That's too mean.

I'd love to know the history between those two -- somehow, I doubt that she calls him "Freak" without provocation!

That's funny, that's the first thing I thought of! :d

Ah??? More power to Sherlock.. but it makes me dislike Donovan more if that's the reason.

Never been to this thread.!

My favorite character is Sherlock, Sherlock, Sherlock, Sherlock, Sherlock, Sherlock, Sherlock...
