And I'm beginning to understand the looks I get from normal people when I try to be funny.

You're just getting that now? :moriarty:😛

Eh, that was yet another example of a poor attempt of mine to be funny.
Re: Spanish, I actually have quite a few opportunities, but I can't remember enough words to even get started. "Mi Espanol es muy muy malo" is literally about the only thing I can come up with. Uhh, "gracias", and …. the other day I did (very proudly ) come up with "me gusta," but then I couldn't think of a word for what it was I liked, which was this girl's shirt. I plucked at mine, but I'm not sure the message got across. She seemed a bit scared of the crazy white lady.
Oh! "Habla Engles?" is the other phrase I can remember.   I should probably find a way to take a class....

1) when you were pointing at your shirt, did you point at her first? Otherwise I can understand the total confusion

2) ¿Habla Inglés? (Yes I’m on my phone to be able to get the fun characters).

3) And you can always say “Hablo gringa.” To go with your Mi Español es muy muy mal.

I think I pointed at her after.

I had never learned a word of Spanish but I understand this perfectly without needing too.

Mycroft got nothing on me. XD

I don't think the person who wrote that knew much Spanish either. :D

YAY, day off!

BOO, it's 'cause I'm ill.

I miss "Sherlock".  I haven't really thought about it lately, but then yesterday some older episodes were airing on PBS.  I turned it there briefly just to see what scene they were on, and as I watched Sherlock save Mrs. Hudson, I felt sad that there was no more "Sherlock" to see.

*Sigh*.  :(

Feel better soon, Pseud!  I hope you can still enjoy your day off in some capacity.

Yeah, I miss it too. I realized a little while back that I haven't been able to get truly interested in another show since. Takes me a long time to get over my loves. :(

For heaven's sake, you guys!  You're going on like the show had been off the air forever and was never coming back.  It's called a hiatus, and it's the normal state of affairs for this show.  If you're gonna be a Sherlock fan, you'd better get used to it.

I have to admit I'm not as bothered as I thought I would be. S4 sapped my enthusiasm. Weird thing is, seasons 1-3 I was meh on first watching and they grew on me more and more on rewatches. Season 4 (aside from TFP, which I like to forget exists) I liked on first watching, and then disliked more and more and now can't stand.

God, I'm shattered. Because I had yesterday off ill I'm completely overrun with stuff today, and have been manically picking, packing, sanding, wrapping etc etc to get stuff that should have gone yesterday in before the international courier's cut off point today. I managed it with literally seconds to go. This is the first chance I've had to sit down, make a coffee and read all my emails.

Ahhh, Friday. Roll on home time.

I was looking through next years module out of curiosity, and I've got a section on quantum mechanics.

Environmental Science 🙂 And yea, It's for the Scientific Principles module.

That's not surprising; they'd make you study every type of science imaginable if they could, relevant to your studies or not.  I don't know if it's typical there, but in the US (in some states more than others), degrees these days involve passing all sorts of classes completely irrelevant to your subject of study.  (And I'm not even talking about generals.)

I'm always confused in unilock fics when John is doing 'pre-med' and doing topics completely unrelated to being a doctor. As far as I'm aware that's not a thing here, seems a waste of time and money.

I suppose, depending on the specialism, the environment does require a basis in chemistry, biology and physics, so it's not hugely surprising... just sounds surprising.

It is a waste of time and money.  But the more classes you have to take, the more of your money the university gets (here, anyway), so I think the motive is obvious; though they try to frame it like they're doing it to give you a "well-rounded" education.  <_<

I have a bone to pick with universities, so I'll save my rants for the ranting thread, lol.

I'm not convinced it is coming back this time, though.  I don't feel that this hiatus is a typical "Sherlock" hiatus.

Ditto. Maybe a Christmas special in ten years time or something but I don't think it'll be back properly.

One of my dogs is sick.  He's mostly stopped eating, acting very lethargic, and generally just not being himself.  I took him to the vet for some blood work, and the results came back with some abnormalities, but they're not sure what it indicates.  I'm having him tested for various potential diseases suggested by the vet, most of which, if diagnosed, don't lead to a happy end.  :(  I'm just really hoping it's not one of those.  He's having an ultrasound, to see if there's any pancreatitis going on.  That would probably be the best-case scenario.
