I don't think there's a whole lot about this show that is realistic, except for the emotions it elicits. It is highly, highly, romanticized, imo. Which is one reason I love it....

Ha, I rarely pick up most of the emotional undercurrents at the first watch! Recognize it, yes, but not echoing them on my own. Let me borrow your mortal shell for a moment please, so I can see how is it from your eyes.

Sure, here you go. Knock off about 40 lbs while you're borrowing it, k? :d

nod-skype-smiley.gif I'll see what I can do. Or more likely, what can my dogs do with the help of cats and rodents from various species.

it's all a matter of degrees... for example how Superhero-ish (and I would argue juvenile) was that pilot?  Moftiss have moved more into the realm of realism since then, still literary and romantic but grounded in reality.  ( not all the way of course, this isn't Broadchurch or Happy Valley)

If there aren't consequences of Sherlock's murder - relatively realistic consequences (John's murder was secret and thus they can actually get away with it) then the show will have levitated back into the cartoon/superhero (ie. juvenile) realm, IMHO.  From some of the deleted scenes that I've read/seen  (script versions as well as the filmed bit) it seems that they really walk this line, those 2 writers, hovering between cartoon superhero boy-worship and more mature novelistic drama.

Frankly, my dear (Clavery), I don't give a d#%*, as long as Mary Dear is gone by the end of the series, to misquote a famous ending line!

Awwwwwww...... I think she was a great character for the show.  But she does need to die along w/ the baby IMHO.

I'm trying to think what's realistic about it, and I'm drawing a blank. Yet at the same time, the characters feel really real to me ... which I've always largely attributed to the acting. Well, to some extent the scripts, too, because I really identify with things the characters say, as well as the way they react. Interesting, that.

Ha ha ha

Well, they are not time-traveling, they are not flying w/out airplanes, not stopping bullets w/ their hand, etc etc. Oh and no Spock holds either.  : )

Oh. Yeah. That. :p

If they make a complete U turn on TJLC, I shall "turn absolutely monstrous"!

@Carol: it's all in capitals, and bears a slight resemblance to Benedict's hastily scribbled note on the door in SIB, also. Go figure!

I shall have to do a comparison -- having nothing else to do before S4 airs. Of course it could be from a fan. Or from a crew member.

Uh.. the gay character thing ... they were talking about Will and Grace, not Sherlock... just to be clear.  That was not a Sherlock panel.

Drat... There goes my hope of seeing those two together (or rather, the reactions of people around them). giggle-skype-smiley.gif

They were talking about normalizing gay characters, tv for social change purposes. Moffat returned to the subject on his own volition w/ the quote above on how you do it.   Name of panel:  The Boundary Pushers

A ruggedly handsome goldfish with silvery scales that makes him looks like a former badboy turned into a knight. ^^ I am going to dig back a fanart of him sprawling on the hood of a car *drools*

As Sir Humphrey Appleby would say, I am appalled! Ya'all call yourselves Sherlock fans and have yet to watch the DVd with the extras from the Abominable Bride, where the whole Mycroft makeup and food styling around him is presented by the female chef? She even used real Victorian moulds to make those towering jellies more authentic!
