I was a bit perplexed why they are both wearing Adidas tops. I assume there's a meaning there somewhere that I'm overlooking.

Sounds the same as what we call a chav here.

I believe it when they say these people are collecting the data. I'm not convinced they need to, but I'm glad to hear it. There have been some reports of Trump telling certain government agencies to stop showing climate change data on their websites, for example. However, I'm not sure it's actually been done yet. At any rate, that doesn't mean the data will be lost, necessarily. Even if he dismantles, for example, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the data will still exist; the government's never been the only one collecting it. But it's true that climate change deniers are now in charge of that agency, yes, so the potential for long-term harm is very real.

This is unknown territory to me ... as far as I know, we've never had an administration this much at war with its own government before.

So yesterday during his rally, Trump implied that there was a security incident last night in Sweden:

Except there wasn't any incident.

i swear Trump is praying for a terrorist attack to happen in the US. The moment one occurs, he's going to start pointing his finger at the Federal judges and say it's all their fault for blocking his Muslim ban. When Trump gets enough support from his followers, he'll start going after Federal judges.

It's funny, I just saw the McCain one, and they've just started talking about the Sweden one. If I had to guess, I'd guess Trump doesn't know the difference between Sweden and any other country, including the fictional ones in his fevered brain.

I actually had that scary thought, that was why I asked about the possibility of Operation Northwood few post back. One of the very few things that could 'restore', kind of, his credibility is if there is an attack that could be blamed on people he is accusing. I hope, no one is that stupid and immoral. But having it almost happened, it messes up what I think about what one would/wouldn't do.

Anyway, his rally, I don't know how to put it on words. How many millions of taxpayer's money spent on that? And for what? Personal therapy, delusion of grandeur, relishing past 'victory' because he can't face the present? Or further embarrassment because apparently he, never ever, do fact check, again?

I'm worried less about the cost of the rally, and more about the number of supporters who attended it. They interviewed one woman who was almost in tears because the press was "so mean" to poor little Donald. I can't even begin to understand someone who believes that...

I'm sure this video interview of a Trump supporter will interest you:

All I have to say is that I think there are a lot of lonely people in the US.

I can never decide whether to keep following this thread or not. On the one hand it depresses me too much, on the other hand wouldn't I rather know what's going on?

We're expecting large anti-Trump protests later today as MPs debate the petition that was signed by 1.8 million people that they have already said they will ignore.

I know exactly what you mean. If the end is coming, do I want to face it with my eyes shut, or wide open?

So the British Parliament just voted to NO to a planned state visit by Donald Trump.

This is the first time in history that they've voted NO to a state visit by a US President.

It looks like online petitions can work.

Whut?!!?

Everything I can find just says they're debating it, but not that they voted on it. I wish they would vote him out, but I'll be amazed if they do.

He would probably try to ban UK in his list of new ban he is drafting now.

Now that you mention it, that's true.

ABC news has uploaded a video:

But it looks like this is just the House of Commons. I think it still needs to be voted on by the upper house.

Come on upper house, vote NO.

They won't vote no. And frankly as much as I desperately don't want him here I would be concerned if they did block him, what's he going to do against us then? Teressa May shouldn't have offered a sodding state visit at all until it became unavoidable.

No, Trump won't be putting Britain on any ban list. Too many business ties. ;)

Nothing that extreme, I was thinking more if another country was competing for a trade deal it would go to them, that kind of thing.

Depends on which deal makes the most money for Trump. :p
