I haven't counted them, but the headline says 322.  IMDb lists "more than 4 million cast and crew members."  Admittedly many of the people listed on IMDb are deceased, but that still gives you some idea of the size of the industry.

Also some listed are duplicates as they got asked by more than 1 department and have to decide which department they are joining under.  Then some might decline for any of a number of reasons.

... and who were this year ready to give an Oscar to Michael Keaton, who single-handedly ruined some of the best Batman films in cinematic history.

I don't even have an opinion on Batman, but this cracked me up!   :D

I thought Keaton's Batman was wonderful (but then I'm not a Batman afficionado).

Same here, I thought he was terrific.

I will admit that when I first heard Keaton had the role, I thought "You gotta be kidding!"  But I went to see the movie anyhow, and he totally won me over.

Nope, too slight, too short, too little too late for such a heroic character! There were Nicholson and the rest playing their improbable characters to the hilt, and Mr Keaton played as well as a cut-out from the comics!

Interesting how two people can see the same movie and come away with totally different impressions.

I know! I loved Gravity, I thought the "women's lib" subtext was brilliant. My friend was bored out of her mind because there wasn't enough George Clooney.

Depends on what you're looking for, I guess!  (And I still think of George Clooney as Rosemary's nephew.)

The Hair is longer..... :cowdance::bouncy:

He's got some hair growing to do for Dr. Strange and then Sherlock on the heels of that.  Looks like he's getting started.

You'd think he'd need some length for Hamlet too, no?

Posted

Hamlet doesn't open for another 6 weeks approximately so there could be enough time if they want him with longer hair for that.

Listened to Rumpole. Dang, I still have problems understanding Ben. But this time I could at least recognize the voice as his. It was easy to imagine him recording it, making all those funny faces. :D

Do we know what the event was?

(Old fashioned mother mutters under her breath: I don't get these modern couples,  should be home with the baby!)

Dear J. P. , thanks ever so much for the Rumpole parody! The voice is still lovely, and when you bundle two stories into one (Rumpole and the Married Lady, Rumpole and Portia,) it's even funnier, especially since Rumpole brought Nick up exclusively on Sherlock Holmes stories! I don't think I could keep from bursting into very noisy laughter if in a later episode he starts reading from The Blue Carbuncle or The Speckled Band, the latter being Nick's favourite, because Rumpole played Watson to his son's Sherlock! So much fun is almost unbearable!:hugz:

Dear besleybean, it was a Fourth of July celebration, which no true Englishman should attend, but PR is another matter, and as for young Master Cumberbatch, what are grandparents and nannies for? ^_^

But do they have functional breasts?!

On the nanny thing: I wonder if they have hired one?

I hope not.

I rather fancied neice Emily going part time on the PA job and nannying the other half...but maybe babies aren't her thing.

I'm embarrassed to admit, that's the first thing I thought of as well... :D

Spending time with the baby, loving the baby more than his own life, caring for it and taking pride in its growth, definitely yes; changing nappies and doing shifts on its erratic sleep patterns , especially with Benedict's hectic schedule, improbable !

Yep! Those of us who can get BBC Radio 4, please remember tomorrow 14:15 GMT is the second Rumpole, Rumpole and the Bubble Reputation! I'm still dreading what it will morph into, and as much as I love Benedict's voice, he's no Leo McKern, not by a long shot!

Yep! I feel for you, bonnie lass, but because Sir John Mortimer is dead, Leo McKern also, they have to do with "second best"! The same way that Roy Marsden was the perfect Dalgliesh, but after a point he had to pass on the sceptre, so it is with Rumpole, unfortunately! I face-palmed myself so many times during the particular episode, especially since Ms Trant IS Claude's erstwhile pupil that Rumpole has to put up with, and in the particular original episode she becomes a Recorder, so is nobody's pupil anymore, BUT there's the voice, and I never give up! Have a Thistle, since it doesn't exist in our emoticons yet!

But just the mental image of Benedict in celluloid stiff collar, bands, a front for a waistcoat and cigar ash down its front as he got up on his hind legs (Rumpole, not me) to question the witnesses was reward enough!
