Well, I didn't know much about the production, previews etc. (oh philistine me), but there were no photos allowed actually, and those media badmouthing the fandom behaved like the rabid idiots themselves. Actually the photos should be considered paps.

To tweet or not to tweet?:

 I like the one that mentions infecting people with brains... although I think many are actually immune.

Yeah, that's the one I like too. The other one is more generic but might not make as much sense out of context.

If you're wondering what happened to all the Hamlet news that was here, I decided to make myself useful and moved it over to the Hamlet thread, starting here.

One of the perks of being a moderator, then. Enjoy!

Thanks! The reddit Q&A was hilariously funny! He even gave a hint that I haven't yet come across in Ao3, watt pad or ff about Sherlock/Thor/Loki! In that case, the Johnloc Conspiracy would go pale chartreuse green with envy!

I hope it never happen.

He is too special and talented, I prefer him to play quirky and unusual characters.

Dear Carol, I'm extremely grateful for your thoughtful and thorough explanation. Sorry to have made you feel as if we have hijacked yet another thread!

Back on track concerning Benedict, I am d*#*%%# if I sign that petition. If they shackle him into a long-term contract ( usually it's for three or four films, each coming out every two years), it will be a nice, cushy, soft option to provide him with work over a long period of time, as well as provide him with financial stability, but once you become Bond, that's it! I should imagine Mr Bond, James Bond, is the most iconic character in film.

Plus, having read all Ian Fleming's novels, I object on the principle that they should cast another Scot, there hasn't been one since Sean Connery, with Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig being English, and Pierce Brosnan being Irish.

Besides, if he becomes Bond, goodbye, adieu, Auf Wiedersehen... as the Von Trapp children sang in The Sound of Music, to there being a fourth and possibly fifth Sherlock series!

Oh no, not Bond. Really do not want to see BC (or anyone else) as a wise-cracking, cold-blooded killer, thanks, I don't care what side he's on.

Dear besleybean, I love all the early ones, I have deleted all Roger Moore ones from my brain except for Live and Let Die and The Spy who loved me, and as for Craig, he isn't Bond, he's just a stand-in, although I admit to loving his trip up north with M in the Aston Martin in Skyfall, as she tells him that he can eject her passenger seat, right out of Goldfinger: The best ever dialogue with Gert Froebe: "You expect me to talk?" "No, Mr Bond, I expect you to die." in the factory in Switzerland.

As for Benedict, he has the poise, the style, the talent, but Bond is Bond: it would not give him the breadth of things he might want to try, which is why another great actor, Timothy Dalton, saved the franchise when it was about to collapse, but bowed out after only two films. And don't even talk to me about how the Australian misfit, George Lazenby, ruined On Her Majesty's Secret Service! Apparently, like The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, Mr Moffat is enamoured of that failure, as he said in the commentary to SIB that it's his favourite, it's where he got the whole idea of the flight of the dead. I wonder, what ails that man?

I hate Bond films. But I'm having to watch the next one because of Andrew!

Oh geez, you're right! I forgot! Well, frickity frack, I may have to go see it after all ... depending on how major his role is. If it's as fleeting as the promo suggests I think I can miss it and still sleep soundly at night. :P

I don't anything ails him, dear, his taste is just different than yours! ;)

He's a Scot and it's set in Scotland, what's not to like?!

Actually, I only think it's okay.

I think the dvd survived my recent cull...but "The Seven per cent solution" went straight to the charity shop...it's not too bad until the very end- yuk!

I never really thought of Benedict as looking like a Bond until a pic from setlock this year that reminded me a bit of Pierce Brosnan and then determined he had facial features that could work as Bond. If he ever gets offered the part, I wouldn't completely mind. There will still be a S4 of Sherlock it potentially would interfere with any series of Sherlock after that.

Oh god he'd kill Bond as a role...I mean in a good way.

I just don't like the film genre...he'd love it tho, boys toys et al.

Dear besleybean, you mean Goldeneye: boys and their toys! But since Mycroft talked about "the other one " in Mr Moffat's most illogical script to date, namely HLV, don't you remember how his alleged Bond favourite, which takes place in Switzerland, not Scotland, OHMSS, starts with the mediocre Mr Lazenby wading to shore and complaining: "This would never have happened to the other one."? Way to go Sir Sean, and I hope BC cannot fit Bond in his his schedule, anyway.

That would make for a nice plot twist: the other one turns out to be Bond.

Dear SherlockedCamper, what a sheltered life you must lead! Ever since dear sfmpco pointed the way in fan fiction, I have discovered so many crossovers in ff and Ao3 among Sherlock, John, Bond and Q ( another curly-haired genius in his own way,) that I cannot even mention their hi jinx, possibly in Boton's thread about reading anything which is not for general consumption! Admittedly, it makes my hair stand on end, sometimes! :evilinside:

I spaced on the crossover fanfics. I know they exist. Moftiss could always make the other one a rogue MI-6 or maybe be part of SPECTRE.

Not Blofeld, at any rate!

Although I can't complain, because Brett's Mycroft is Charles Gray, the Blofeld of Diamonds are Forever! That had one of the best one-liners ever" You had your chance Curly, and you missed it" , plus the blooper with the car on two wheels? But I also like You only live twice's Blofeld. That had lovely title music sung by Nancy Sinatra! Of the new ones, the only title music worth remembering is from Skyfall. The others are eminently forgettable.

Not new but comparative history: tempora mutantur nos et mutamur in illis: times change and we change with them.
