SPOILERS! Series 4 Setlock

If this turns out to be one of those shows that just gets worse from there, I'll have to stop watching it ... too stressful for delicate little me. But I've noticed a lot of shows lately put the most, um, outrageous stuff right up front, then become relatively tame after that. So I'll give it a chance.

 

OK, so I'm only three episodes in, so my opinion might change, but it does seem to get more nuanced as we go along.  Out of the three episodes I've seen, it seemed like the first one was trying especially hard to get the point across that none of the leading characters are particularly honorable or likable. I'm sure we're setting up an arc where the Gencoin (or whatever) proves to be the vehicle for some sort of redemption for them.

Yeah, I got that point the moment Martin's character walked into that room. They don't have to beat me over the head with it. That's why I think most of that scene was gratuitous.

 

I did admire Martin's performance, though. That's why I want to continue watching it, but there's only so much grime I'm willing to crawl through.

I made myself watch Epi 1, but now will be satisfied w/ the Tumblr gifs of Martin for the rest of the show - just due to all the gratuitous sex/violence going on.  Yeesh.

Frankly, after the Hitchhicker's guide to the Galaxy and The Hobbit three-parter, a clear Jackson indulgence, Mr Freeman has delivered professional performances but nothing past that! And we should wish the 'short friend' a happy 45th birthday, all the same!

I like Amanda too. But I can barely stand that interviewer. Sorry, lady, I'm sure you're a lovely person but I dislike that kind of touchy-feely, we're all girls here interviewing. Ah, well.

Mark Gatiss says we've missed "blindingly obvious" clues as to what is going to happen next.  This just drives me kerazy!  WHAT?  What have we missed?  What is it that is so clear-cut?  Ack!  What do you think he means?

I think we probably have spotted the clues, we just don't know what they point to. For instance, "the other one" remark surely has to be a clue, because otherwise it doesn't make sense. But knowing it's a clue doesn't get me any closer to knowing what it means. It could turn out to be something really trivial ... or not. Not enough data!

Very droll! This is one of the most intelligent fandoms around the world! If they gave us enough data, we could reverse-engineer their pathetic little attempts at cliffhangers, worthwhile moments and plot points/holes! It's just a marketing tool. Clever, clever, Mycroft!

I read it either as Formula 1 knob, as in idiot.

Or even 'first rate knob', as in 'knob head'!

The shots of BC and AS look to be outside Bart's. Are we sure they aren't from a previous series?

If I were in a truly obsessive mood, I'd compare those shots to scenes from TRF, TEH, and S4 setlock, paying particular attention to AS's tie and hairline. But I'm not. :P

It could be old Setlock. The suit and the tie are the same.
