For me, I think John is not in HLV's Mind Palace because Sherlock's first instinct is to survive from Mary's shot, Mrs. Watson.

He is in shock, felt betrayed and at the same time probably trying to understand what Mary really is and the effect of that to John.

It must be frightening to learn all that facts at one go. At that very moment he probably tries, consciously or not, not to get John involved at all.

If I had been shot by my best friend's spouse, I wouldn't consider asking his help in that critical moment after that. There are probably a drop of mistrust (who the hell did you choose as your spouse!?), shock, instinct to deny and to protect that said friend from the horrible truth at that moment.

Those above applicable for Sherlock only, for me, my Brain Tiki Hut reaction would be just 'Whooooatt?' and ... flat-line. Three seconds, most people don't even have enough time to construct 'Oh shit..this time I think I'm going to die!'

You would indeed think Sherlock would carry a black light in his kit as it can illuminate so many different and disgusting things at a crime scene.

I can actually see him carrying that around. After all, it's probably equivalent to ruler for an architect or pen for a lawyer.

Maybe that's why he doesn't carry one around ... he doesn't want to be grossed out! :D

A man who is gleefully picking linseed oil tracks out of the woodwork on a kidnapped children case and who has no issues showing maggot-filled eye sockets to a young boy.  I doubt anything in a crime scene grosses out, scares or turns the stomach of Sherlock.

Back to Molly.

Molly is the only girl who gets not one, but two kisses from Sherlock without him playing a role.

She is the only girl who gets invitation for a meal.

She also gets to be his partner for a day.

She is also the only girl who know exactly what happens in TRF.

Of course she is very special to him.

Fish and chips in TEH?

Or is it only chips?

Sherlock doesn't feel hungry at normal times, so I guess that is very flattering invitation already. XD

Well, he did say the owner always gives extra portions.  He does like his carbs!

Oh, THAT meal! Sorry, my bad, I was thinking about the quavers in TRF. :D Yes, I was really wanting to slap Molly upside the head for turning down the fish and chips. What were you thinking, girl?

Oh great!

I thought fish and chip is not qualified for meal.. you know.. in your planet..

Yes Molly! Fish and chips can be platonic if you worry about that meat dagger theorist. It's time with Sherlock after two years!

You don't even want to know what qualifies as a meal on my planet... :alien:

Sometimes tortilla chips and cheese sauce qualify for me.

Literally had chips for dinner. Lazy to cook/buy, work late and not hungry enough..

Ahhhhhh... so far your planet is really disappointing; no outside fruits allowed, no adequate speech writer, your meal is green sludge.. :blanket:

Okay..back to Molly.

Love that in TEH Molly expects Sherlock to ask her for dinner (which Sherlock says, "solve crime", then looking at her as if saying, Molly, you are doing it again, but at the end really asks her for a meal.

I wonder why Molly didn't wait for Sherlock longer, since there was definitely an improvement in TRF. Maybe  because she tried to 'move on' (with someone who resembles Sherlock), then stabbed him on the hand with a fork XD and called out the engagement once the real Sherlock is back.

Heart rules head more often than not.

Well, that's REALLY good question. She knew Sherlock was alive, unlike the others.

Maybe her engagement with Tom was the way she wanted to ensure that everyone thinks Sherlock is dead. If she waited, someone could start to suspect something. Maybe Anderson has contacted her about his crazy ideas?

Well, Sherlock is on a long-term mission and no clear end in sight, it is make sense if she try to move on with her life. It is true that the heart cannot (completely) lie but she would have to live with the consequences of ditching Tom (someone who like her enough to proceed to engagement), because of Sherlock or not doesn't really make much difference.

I think Sherlock loves Molly in his own way but recognizes that he would destroy her and ultimately lose her friendship. Whether that's true or not, who can say? Maybe he wants to give her more but can't for fear of destroying her.

Which makes her quite practical and reasonable person. Probably it was easier for her not having Sherlock around for a while. :)

Her choice to backtrack and going back to moon over the unattainable. Or perhaps Mofftiss are playing with Sherlolly shippers' fantasy. In BC's own words, "There is always hope and that's what make it so cruel." :D

Welcome to the forum, petnurser! :welcome: I feel pretty much the same way; he doesn't trust himself not to destroy her. Quite rightly, I'm afraid.

My goodness, my heart just broke a little bit.
