Now my next question: What are SNL type brains? (Note that I did not ask what High School Musical is. To my shame I must admit that I know that.)

crude humor, considered clean enough for prime time but not family friendly.  Some jokes might be similar to what could be seen on SNL even if it's never actually been done on there.

Yes, but what is SNL?

Posted

Saturday Night Live, an American television sketch program (broadcast live, on Saturday nights, for the past forty years -- it used to be fresh and new).

It's best known recently for the episode guest-hosted by Martin Freeman!   ;)   Here are links to the wedding skit, a deleted skit (taped during dress rehearsal). and many people's favorite (at least for those familiar with both The Hobbit and The Office) the Hobbit Office skit.

Sorry, forgot that SNL is not a term completely known overseas (or possibly recalled from when Martin hosted back in December & what we discussed on here somewhere about it).  What Carol explained above is what it is.

It is a strange movie that I find mildly addictive.  I like it more and more.  I have even started quoting 1 bit from it.

Would you like to expound on that?   ;)

I have to think on that one for a while.  Not because it is a deep film... but because it isn't a deep film, and I'm not entirely sure it's my cuppa.

:D :D :D :D :D

Exactly.

I liked the first two books, but lost interest after the depressed robot died. The movie version is its own thing but I quite liked that, too.

Dunno ... I'm an unabashed Douglas Adams fan, and I love Martin Freeman, but I still didn't like the film much. Can't even quite give much of a reason why, it just failed to grab me.

For me, the film doesn't seem the most interesting either, but I find it very addicting despite the craziness of it.  But I do like how Alan Rickman voices Marvin the depressed robot.

Okay, to change movie topics... Just watched THOR: THE DARK WORLD.  I love those Marvel adaptations of its comic books.  They are great popcorn movie fun.  However... with TTDW, I wasn't sure exactly what happened with Loki at the end. Anyone understand?

Apparently Loki is still alive, somehow

Loki's not dead, did something with Odin (I'd assume he's imprisoned somewhere... I can't see Loki killing him), and is now pretending to be Odin to rule Asgard?  That's what I took away from it.

Now I think I'm going to have to watch it (we have it on demand on 1 of our premium channels if I recall correctly).

Gratuitous Loki gif... ;)

Well, that I have no clue.  I'm assuming we'll find out in the next installment?  Maybe I'll have to rewatch and ponder.  All I know is the last time I saw him before the throne room scene he appeared to be dying/dead?  And I was screaming "NOOOOOO!!!!   I AM SO NEVER WATCHING THIS CRAP AGAIN"  lol

Well, I'm just going to have to go with he faked it.

Same here. For me it was just too frenetic, and I missed Zaphod's other head. But then I've always thought the radio show was the best version anyway.

That 2-head thing was kinda freaky.

I've just had an "interesting" couple of days in real life, and currently have some pressing considerations at home (meaning I will probably not have much time to spend on the forum), so your virtual warmth is very much appreciated!

Hang in there Carol! We'll miss you around here, I am sure... Be brave, to quote Sherlock Holmes, and be assured that many good wishes are floating your way from the other side of the atlantic.  :hugz:
