Yep, here it is, Your Favorite TV Series: http://www.sherlockforum.com/forum/topic/2585-your-favourite-television-series/

There's also Your Favorite TV Episodes: http://www.sherlockforum.com/forum/topic/3510-favorite-tv-episodes/

and What Other TV Shows Do You Watch: http://www.sherlockforum.com/forum/topic/107-recommend-a-fandom-also-called-the-what-other-tv-shows-do-you-watch-thread/

and also threads for assorted individual shows, such as Endeavor and X-Files.

Oh, and here's one for shows that "remind you of Sherlock." http://www.sherlockforum.com/forum/topic/2364-crime-tv/

That's why I was a bit iffy about creating one, I thought there might be one lurking somewhere!

For future reference, anything of that sort should be in the Movies and Entertainment subforum, so that's where to A] look to see if there's something already, and if not, then B] create a new thread.

Untouchables

Despite being a relatively unknown French movie, it's quite charming.

Logan 8/10

I'm not a X-Men fans, but I don't hate them, also don't seek them.
The last X-Men related movie I watched was Wolverine, didn't see anything about the younger version or whatever they are.

I wish I didn't see Logan's trailer, because I think it'd be more enjoyable for me, and the trailer actually almost deterred me from watching it (because it makes me think that it's too cliche', whether it's true or not I left it to you) Couldn't avoid it because I was a captive audience for other movie when it was shown. I used to enjoy trailers, but now, not so much because they tend to show too much imho.

Anyway, I actually like Logan, although not much, I know enough to understand the background. Hugh Jackman is great in this, so is Patrick Stewart.

I know there is a Favorite TV series thread, but sometimes I don't feel like it's suitable to talk about any TV because technically they are not necessary my favorite, as the title said.

Wasn't aware (because the last post was donkey years ago :P) that there is a Other TV Show You Watch, which should be suitable for any random TV talk.

@Misfits.

Yes that Simon leaving changes it too much, although I like Rudy too.

I just got home from seeing Logan, I really liked it. I'm hopeless at deciding on ratings, so I won't give it a number but it would be pretty high. I liked that it wasn't very superhero-y, it was downtrodden and broken without doing the stereotypical 'we're going dark this time' that every other sequel tries to pull. I roll my eyes these days when I hear how dark some new film is supposed to be. I'm a bit of a trailer addict, though I agree they can ruin things sometimes, but I loved the trailer for this, the Johnny Cash soundtrack fit it perfectly.

I love trailers. I can still remember the thrill I got sitting in a movie theater, a trailer started ... and suddenly I realized they were finally making a movie out of the Lord of the Rings. I practically screamed "oh my god!"

At any rate, sometimes the trailers are the best part of the whole movie experience. I wonder if we should start a "Favorite Trailers" thread? :p

Yeah, I used to feel like the trailers were a bonus features of the movie-going experience -- well, them and the Roadrunner cartoons. :D

But the past few years, seems like the vast majority of trailers come from the "bigger, faster, louder" school of filmmaking. No thanks!

I used to enjoy trailer too, loved to sit in theatre earlier so that I could watch trailers. However, nowadays, more often that not, they kind of reduce the enjoyment of actual movies by exhausting good moments or revealing the surprises that are mostly much more enjoyable when you find out yourself.

I guess it's marketing ploy etc. I just wish they don't reveal too much, especially for movies that already have established reputations.

So now, basically I'd rather arm myself with very vague idea of the movie and go in blank, unless it's based on stuff I know, like books or real story. I do peek at IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes rating, but that's it. Only when I have watched and liked a movie, I'd go back and read more.

Anyway, I have question for X-Men fans, or those who know a lot of about the universe, but it's spoiler from Logan, so proceed only if you don't mind.

It's mentioned in Logan that Professor X accidentally killed 'all' X-Men? Is it true to the comic/other X-men movie and how did that happen?

Wow, that's news to me. But I stopped keeping up with the X-Men years ago, when Wolverine seemed to take over all the storylines. He was always my least favorite X-Man.

That is news to me too, but I don't trust my X-Men knowledge so it could be something that I missed.

Who is your favourite X-Men then, or which one you want to be?

Posted

I don't think I ever wanted to be an X-man ... I think I'd be scared to death to have super powers ... but for some reason I was always fondest of Cyclops. I think it's because the first Xmen comic I read, he was the main character and had to extract himself from a situation, and he wasn't even in disguise. And I just admired the intelligence and aplomb with which he got himself out of the situation ... without using his powers.

I always had a fondness for Hank, too. And there was another character they had for a few years -- although this might have been the New Mutants -- he didn't have any superpowers, exactly, he was just very very smart. I adored that character, but of course they killed him off because he couldn't kick ass. :(

The Fugitive ... 9/10. I love this movie. I love the quirkiness of the US Marshall characters, they're all individual personalities. One point off for being a little longer than it needs to be.

Logan - 8/10 (maybe even better, like a 8.5, maybe almost a 9, but i decided for an 8, just want you to know that it's a very strong 8)

Gravity

Not really my cup of tea, it was dramatic for the sake of being dramatic.

And Trolls

A funny, heartwarming movie

I think I'm the only person who really liked Gravity.

Maybe.

I don't dislike it, but I don't understand the hype and it's way overrated, imho. (Don't cry! :p)

Take out the space stuff (I have to admit it looks stunning and I did want to be an astronaut back then :p) it has very thin plot. It's decent when you watch it in big screen, but imagine watching it at home, it's again... has almost nothing.

This comes from me who enjoy shows like Castaway and The Martian.

Castaway was great. Don't know if I want to see it again, though, because it made me cry so much. Wilson...!

I liked it because I didn't think it really was a space movie; I saw it as an allegory about women learning to be strong and standing up for themselves. As such, I thought it was brilliant. But I don't know anyone else who saw it that way.

I know! I actually had tears in my eyes when Wilson floated away!

Another allegorical movie, don't you think? And one of Tom Hanks' best, and he's done a lot of good ones.

Beauty and the Beast

So I've watched the remake and I have questions:

- why Venetian France in the king gets cursed flashback? Venetian outfits can be gorgeous, but it can be ridiculous which they were.

- speaking about those outfits, why were they white?

- why are there new songs?

- why was the library so goddamn small? Seriously, there were like 10 books

- why don't the villagers want their children to learn how to read? Or don't they want Belle to teach them?

- why was there an eternal winter on the castle?

- why did the beast imprisoned Maurice for stealing a goddamn flower?

- why is Gaston a bigger douche bag then he was in the original? No seriously, he ties Maurice to a tree to get eaten by wolves! Don't worry, Agathe frees him.

- speaking about Agathe, what's the purpose of her character if the villagers don't believe her?

- What was the point of having a book that can take you anywhere if was only used to give Belle closure about her mother?

- speaking about Belle's mother, what's so hard to say about "your mom died because of the plague"?

- why does Mrs Potts suddenly have a husband?

- for that same matter, why does Cogsworth suddenly has a love interest?

- why is LeFou Disney's first gay character?

I liked the original more

Brother bear (rewatched) - 8/10

I've cried more or less from the start to the end together with laughing (yes, that's kind of dramatic and funny at the same time to me, I need some medical cares).

So I finally watched the new jungle book

I liked the graphics, but there were some unrealistic parts as well. But it was fun to sing along with bare necessities and I want to be like you.
