She's a year younger than Sherlock, who's about the same age as the actor who plays him, who is 40.

Yes, i asked in series. I forgot. Thank you.

She is very good actress and the character has written both as sensual and as brutal.

Just because of this she played with Sherlock.

(You are understand everytime even if i did misspelling. I beg your pardon for my all incorrect sentences.)

For what it's worth, I was surprised at how different he looked even from the "modern" scenes in TAB. I mean, there, he looked like he did in S3. TST is supposedly a few days later, but he looks very different, and it's not just age. It's really weird, when they've taken such care about these things in previous seasons.

And he looks like "himself" again in TLD, in spite of the stubble and the shorter hair. I still maintain this difference is due to makeup and lighting, and someone should have caught it. Alas, my impulse is to think they simply stopped caring.

I think they went for a new look for all the main characters in Season 4. It's not just John and Sherlock that look different. Lestrade has some gel on his hair that he didn't have before. Molly's makeup or something looks slightly different as well.

I think Moffatiss were just going for a new aesthetic in Season 4.

Moriarty said that "Did you miss me?"

How is meaning?

Sherlock can lose sight of him, can't he?

It was presumed to be posthumous message asking if Sherlock missed him after his death in reality it was referring to Euros.

What do you mean by 'Sherlock can lose sight of him'?

"Did you miss me" can have two meanings; one is like "did you miss when you shot that arrow at me?" The other is like "did you miss my presence in your life?" In this case, it means the second one, and Jim is using it to be funny. Of course Sherlock didn't miss him, he's a horrible villain! :D

In the first case, yes, Sherlock could lose sight of him, and miss. But this time, it's just Moriarty pretending they were friends who miss being together.

Did I understand your question correctly? And no need to apologize for your spelling, it is excellent!

Yet they kept the old aesthetic in episode 2, which made the other two stand out even more ... but not in a good way. I just find it really, really weird when they've gone to such pains to keep the look consistent up to now. Drives me nuts, frankly. :P But I am very visually oriented...

Yes, you understood correctly as usual. :)

Looks like Ironic. It makes me think Moriarty is coming back. It is confused by this words. Moffat is little bit an ironic man.

When I came the series,

I know he is dead.

Eurus played with Sherlock through his little emotions.

And, of course, everyone recognises the famous "When you remove the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth" as the Aristotelian saying in his Poetics! I swear, the man dictated practically all Western thought and philosophical analysis, but Sherlock Holmes, as well? Pathetic, given that Holmes does not use deductive reasoning but abductive to solve his cases.

I never really thought of that. In that case I have to ask: what does actual deductive reasoning look like when it's used to solve a case?

I did say I would log back in here to say which scene I had a 'walk on' part in. Well here I am. It's the scene where Sherlocks brother is held and escorted towards the exit of the Glass office, by two nurses in yellow scrubs. I'm the male one.

The office set was constructed entirely in the studio and the scene out of the balcony was a projected sea scene onto a large canvas as opposed to a green screen image. Gatiss is a real gentleman, as was 'the hobbit'.

Thanks for letting us know!

But hey, come back any time.

Finally watched this episode. What is the song that Sherlock and Eurus played together in the end?

Posted

It seems to be something they made up for the show. All verses and how the puzzle works is here: http://finalproblem.tumblr.com/post/156312744365/the-song-is-the-answer-the-full-lyrics-to

Way over my head....

Not that one, the violin duet between Sherlock and Eurus. Think I found it, called 'Who you really are.' So far the end of this episode looks like a closure but I am not ready yet to say goodbye to the Holmesses.

Oh, that. Of course.

No, I'm not ready to say fare-thee-well either. But I predict it will be a lonnnnnng time before we see them again. Could be wrong.

>.< Hope not.

By the way, anyone here with musical background? I know CAMPer is. Let's write about our impression of the soundtracks.

Posted

No musical background, but I found the choir music a bit sappy. Otherwise I thought it was great.

The Ode of Joy?

No, the Requiem for Mary. :( Also the Meaningful Hug, although I liked the scene.

Posted

... I must watch the episode again to know which ones are they.

I never got this. It just looks stupid.

Posted

That reminds me to two dogs sniffing each others the first time they met, lol.

Posted

Ha! I suppose we should be thankful they weren't trying to sniff each others butts in that case!

LMAO!!!

Was finally re-watching. Few things that caught my attention this time:

At the end Mary says: Well, you listen to me: who you really are, it doesn’t matter.
It’s all about the legend, the stories, the adventures.

It strikes me as weird, even if I understand that they probably allude to the theme of Dr. Watson creating Sherlock Holmes, that was especially clear in TAB.

But still - who you are doesn't matter. It doesn't fit into the other storyline about Sherlock finding his true self.

Then this:

MYCROFT: …Eurus, she was incandescent even then. Our abilities were professionally assessed more than once. I was remarkable, but Eurus was described as an era-defining genius, beyond Newton.

Mycroft doesn't mention Sherlock. Can it be, they suggest that as a kid, Sherlock was "normal"?

In this case all what Sherlock became is indeed Mycroft's work. I think I have written it already that Sherlock could be just a smart kid, but he trained himself and became a "genius". Do Mofftiss spy on us? :P

And finally: Sherrinford looks very much like the place they kept and interrogated Jim. But then - would he go there again, voluntarily, to meet Eurus? Nah, probably not…

This soundtrack (S4 as a whole) has the most tunes I will listen to on repeat.  All of the other series has a song or 2 at most that can handle a long set of repeating (I've been known to listen to the same piece of music for hours while working on a task).

Rewatching this episode. The Baker Street duo is lucky that it is Mycroft they are messing with instead of me, my reaction for their action in the house won't be that benign. Really tempted to ignore my own principle about no corporal punishment and spank both grown men to the last inch of their life for the stupid game.

Edit: Wrong thread, this should be on the s4-3

Aaand... once again Sherlock demonstrated his propensity to focus on details AND completely failed the pattern-recognition for dummies. I wonder what is it that made him so blind to the power play his enemies loves to use until it is too late. From Irene Adler to Eurus Holmes, he doesn't learn a thing about his own impulses and how to rein them and the villain of the episode exploited the same darned pressure point with glee. It is facepalm-worthy and saddening considering his hobby to play with sharks. Someone please tell him that, someone he would listen to and certainly not Mycroft who already did so at the SiB. John? I don't think so, that one Sherlock might listen to but not on this kind of thing. "You see but you don't observe," that's Sherlock's own words to John at least once, he won't listen to John on something like that.
