There's a reason why I said if he's a gentleman because a true gentleman waits until marriage. Now Mycroft definitely has moments of being a gentleman as many men do but whether or not he'd wait is debatable. I don't know if he would wait or not.

He's not a gentleman to Mrs Hudson! Shockingly bad behaviour. Though now I know he has a thing for older women I don't know what to think.

Same age difference as Molly and Lestrade then.

Can we blame that on Irene and/or the stress of Bond Air? Sherlock being in a sheet at Buckingham the day before?

How do we classify their IMDb age difference given the Mark is 10 years older than Benedict but Mycroft is only 7 years older than Sherlock and character ages are based off real age for Sherlock and John? Would we automatically subtract 3 years off the real ages of Lindsey and Mark to get their characters' ages while keeping the age gap?

Well yes but I consider these more reasons than excuses. There is no excuse for rudeness to Mrs Hudson, in my view. Never mind the fact she looks after his brother so the rest of the family doesn't have to, the things she puts up with for Sherlock's sake should have Mycroft giving her a medal.

I love that she won't make him tea in TFP, well deserved.

Hm, I guess so about the ages since it all needs to be based around Sherlock.

I still think Mrs H calling Mycroft a reptile is overly harsh.

I have to take Mrs. Hudson's side. Though I also think he probably loves being called a reptile too.

Back off, you all! Mycroft is mine! Mine alone. My precioussss. nunu.gif

Anyway, I like the idea of a fencing date. duel.gif
Even if I suppose that his skills might be just leftovers from his school or uni years. So maybe he works himself on his super brolly, tinkering on it's features. Or he might put on the armour from his fitness room and plays ghost fencing with a two handed sword.

I don't see him as the wait until marriage type at all! I only see that type as the highly religious, which I can't see him being. Besides, if he was also a virgin, assuming he hadn't been married, I doubt he would be so sneery at Sherlock for being 'alarmed by sex.'

I don't agree that one needs to be particularly religious or in any way uncomfortable with sex to want to wait until marriage.  I think, for many people, it has to do with a love of seeing things done "properly" or according to a certain code of behavior.  I'm not sure I necessarily think Mycroft is a virgin, but I do think the adult Mycroft would hold back out of respect.

Of course, doesn't matter at all, because it's just idle speculation.  (The only kind we really have until we get more episodes, if indeed we do.)  I did read a really lovely fan fic that examined Lady Smallwood providing some very sweet, very much physical comfort to Mycroft after the events at Sherrinford, and it was just lovely.

Oh you can have him.

I am busy doing his brother. :)

*My understanding is that 'do' stands for a lot of things beside the ones you have in mind when I said that. :angel1: :p

You mean you're NOT doing your impression of him? How disappointing -- I was looking forward to seeing that. :(

Hey, it's vitally important information we're discussing here. How can we enjoy the show properly if we don't know all about Mycroft's sex life? ;)

What's going on with Mycroft's kitchen? It looks like the tiles have been chipped off the wall, but on the right they look like they are there and the light is just reflecting weirdly. Not exactly the posh upperclass kitchen I would have expected. And that weird light on the right that looks like a shower head.

:D Looks like a fridge to store highly volatile and temperature-sensitive items to me. The shower head is there in case some of that got spilled on him and there's no time to decontaminate in a proper bathroom outside the room. Now we knew why Sherlock keeps potentially reactive chemicals at the kitchen, he learnt that from big brother dearest. Now excuse me when I am drooling upon that back view, svelte and well-dressed men always have that kind of effect on me. XD

:D Oh my god, I am glad I finally revisited this thread, you ladies have made me giggle more than during all the past week.

Seriously, though: Can you really imagine Mycroft Holmes in a relationship - or just on a date? In bed with anybody? I can't, not for the life of me. The utmost I can picture is him making occasional use of very high-class escort services and even then, I cannot conjure up any details.

I'd think he'd behave very gentlemanly on the surface but be quite callous when push came to shove. Sherlock is actually lot more "honorable" than his brother. Honor is a very romantic notion after all, and I wouldn't call Mycroft romantic, not one bit.

And marriage? Okay, yeah, I can see him marrying for practical or political reasons. One of those arrangements where there's no actual human connection and the partnership is more professional than private.
