Confused, who said shopping?

Posted

Forgive me. I interpreted Camper's "something fun to do that won't break the bank" as "shopping for something fun and inexpensive." Because that's what I do; buy myself a treat. I collect horse figurines, for example, so I'd go out and haunt the most offbeat shops I could find, looking for affordable, offbeat horse figurines. Found some cool ones, too.

However, if I want to put myself into a deep depression, I go clothes shopping.

Lol, that's what I was thinking of - clothes shopping is horrifying!

Thanks for the suggestions.  Shopping isn't really something I can do right now.  Money was already tight, and now with my dog's new diet and medicine, it's even tighter.  I have about $5 extra to spend this month without going into the negative.  I've skipped some meals just to still be able to see "Frankenstein" on the 22nd, lol.

Hiking is kind of a no-go too.  There aren't too many good hiking places around here, I'd have to go pretty far out to get away from houses and shopping centers.  I was thinking of going on a walk though, if only to take a look at some of the Halloween decorations people have put out.  But it's been so gloomy.  Cold, overcast, and rainy all day, every single day this month.  I don't mind overcast, but I don't much like walking in cold drizzle.  So I'm feeling a bit housebound.

Blah.

*Sigh*.  An unfortunate side effect of heightened depression is that my PTSD tends to intensify with it.  More nightmares, flashbacks, sensitivity to triggers.  I ran across some regrettable artwork on Tumblr, so I've been fighting off anxiety for the last 8 or something hours.  Triggers are stupid.

Listening to some music to try and quell intrusive thoughts.  And also posting here, lol.

P.S.  Sorry for the many complaints of late.

Hey, no need to apologise!  That's what this thread is for.  I went through a somewhat similar experience several years ago, and it sure helped when I had someone to talk with.

You're apparently grieving for the life you hoped to have with this particular man, and that's perfectly normal and necessary.  If you're worried that you "shouldn't" be feeling this way, try telling yourself, "Well of course I do -- what sort of heartless fool would have to be if I didn't?"

And even though logic has very little to do with it, you might try occasionally thinking about how much better off you are by not marrying him.  Nobody needs that kind of nonsense.

Thanks Carol, that helps a lot.  You’re very understanding, as always.

Not marrying him is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.  He’s been very persistent in trying to get me back.  And sometimes there’s a big part of me that wants to give in and stop saying no.  But I know I shouldn’t, so I can’t.

Artemis, I have two thoughts for you:

1. xZo8l7W.gif

and

2. e5gPHLo.gif

because everyone needs a visit from a flying banana man at least once in their life.

Phew just got buffeted all around the road thanks to storm Callum. Wouldn't be surprised if they shut the main bridge going into the city.

Are you able to help them?  If so, then take it as a compliment.  I'm still operating by trial and error.

People (usually couples) are always asking me to take pictures of them while I’m out.  I remember being handed a smartphone, before I had my own, and the looks of confusion and annoyance when I didn’t know how to find the camera.  Everyone just assumed I would know how to use it.  One lady even said as she handed it to me, “I’m sure you know what to do, you young people are always on your phones, right?”

Right.  Sure.  <_<

A friend left his cellphone at a party, back in the pre-smart days when I didn't even have a cellphone.  I thought, well I'll just use this to phone his wife -- but I couldn't get a dial tone....

At least she called you a young person. :D

She probably would have called anyone younger than 50 a “young person”, lol.

So Sherlock showed up in my dream right before I woke up, and gave me a hug.  Which even in my dream I was thinking was weird, because Sherlock, hugging?  That’s a rarity, lol.  I haven’t had a Sherlock dream in ages.  Why is he showing up now, and how did he know I needed a hug?  :P  I didn’t even know.  (Consciously, anyway.)  It took me a minute to get over the shock and hug him back, but I did, lol.

I would have been walking down the aisle right now... *Sigh*.  :(

It’s sunny for the first day in weeks.  Guess I’ll take advantage and go for that walk.

We had sun this morning and a mix of rain and sleet this afternoon.  Glad you have nice weather for your walk.

Thank you.  I'm still trying not to think about how I'd be heading to Ireland for my honeymoon in a couple days, but I'm feeling a bit better now.

Rain? It seems like we've had maybe 5 days of rain since May. It's like a never ending summer - today we should have up to 29C.

Maybe he was just trying to steal your phone?

We have a big storm and flooding, loads of houses in my area are without power but luckily all seems fine for me.

Probably good that the day is done and out of the way now.

You dreamt of Sherlock, I dreamt of Voldemort. 😏

Oof, that looks scorched!  We were in drought conditions here up until mid-September-ish, and since then it's been nonstop rain (until today).

He doesn't have to steal, he can borrow it any time.
