Sherlock was a go-go dancer in his wild younger days, he got plenty of action ;)

Papa Holmes did have an affair didn't he? Don't think Mary's the result though.

Head canon accepted.  Just because it's fun to think about.   :D

Oh yes, that does, indeed, strike me as one of the worst things you can do to your friends ... tell them you used to be a go-go dancer. Second only to confessing that you had a cameo in Zoolander 2. :d

The horror in John's eyes when he realises the young go-go dancer he had a thing for in his student days bore a startling resemblance to a certain consulting detective...

And Mycroft remembering all the gold sequined bikini shorts that got all mixed up in the wash.  One day, Mycroft found glitter all over his favorite brolly tie, and that was the end of him coming home to Mummy's on weekends to do his laundry.

He's not sure which is worse, thinking the sequinned bikini bottoms were Mummy's or knowing they were Sherlock's.

Not really a news, but weird. This is a scan with the birth announcement

Look at the ad right bottom one. Looks to weird to be true but it apparently is. There is a place called Dorking and it has a funeral service called Sherlock. www.sherlockandsons.co.uk

And you know what? I'll grab a bucket of popcorn, make myself comfy on my sofa and watch that thing growing into another conspiracy. Why people don't do the ELEMENTARY research? It's the internet era, Google owns our deepest secrets but nobody thinks of googling the name. Does it hurt or what?

All I know to do at this point is to rewatch all the episodes before Jan. 1.  It's sort of interesting to hear how many little bits of things are unresolved.

I have rewatched all episodes in the twelve days starting the third Advent week! Now, instead of a shock blanket, I am re-watching the Jeremy Brett series interspersed with Star Wars, Star Trek Original, Morse and Lewis. In short, long may Granada and ITV keep me from a shark-toothed Mary Dear and a ludicrous escalation of emotions!

LOL - they list Molly as his love interest! ( the article is a pill to load - I gave up)

From UPI entertainment news, the 45-second clip features the return of Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular sleuth, Martin Freeman as his close friend John Watson, Louise Brealey as his love interest Molly Hooper, Mark Gatiss as his brother Mycroft and ...

Oh FFS, his love interest?! What she is single and female and so, despite girlfriends 'not being his area,' she must be his love interest?! Clearly whoever wrote that has never even watched it.

IT seems to be anything goes as long as it is TJLC! The scriptwriters flipping started it, especially with SoT, they had better deliver, or half their fandom will have hissy fits and give up on them! A Bit Not Good?

Thing is I don't really care if they do Johnlock or not, it's all the conspiracy theories and vitriol that annoy me.

Radio Times seems to love the show and BC, so there's something almost every day!

Having a baby seems to have aged John and Mary considerably.  They're both looking quite haggard (maybe it's all those sleepless nights!)  I must say, though, that I like the choice of Rosamund for Baby Watson.  It's a lovely old name.

The "I love you" at the end of the trailer is very weird, and doesn't look as if he is telling someone he loves them.  Looks more like he is thinking aloud or maybe repeating a clue.  However, based on how inaccurate all my previous guesses about trailers have been, he is probably declaring his undying love for someone off-camera....

Slithytove! Welcome back.

I love how a couple of those articles end, you can tell the writers must be true fans...

"Sounds like lots of scared people all round – and here we thought 2017 might be less harrowing than 2016. Oh well."
and
"...all in all, it sounds like Sherlock fans are in for a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. Nothing new there then."

Then there's this remark about Amanda:
"Amanda Abbington, who plays Mary, has already hinted at a departure for her character, posting a tweet in July that referred to her "golden wrap" on Sherlock. No amount of backtracking is going to convince me that she meant anything other than that she had filmed her final episode of Sherlock. She's an actor and she knows perfectly well what golden wrap means."

Well, the writer may think s/he knows what it means, but I can't find any definition of the term on the internet, or any indication that it's a common term. Not that I put a lot of effort into the search, mind you, it just seems like a rather flimsy accusation.

She could also have meant that the show itself was ending for good. In that case, of course it would have meant the end of her playing Mary as well. We shall see!

Thanks to everyone who has been posting links and sharing news! You're saving lazy (and busy) people like me a world of trouble.

And welcome back, Slithytove!

I don't see a definition as such, but several sites (referring to other series) seem to be using the term to mean "last wrap, ever, in the role," generally involving congratulations, hugs, possibly gifts and champagne.

But at the time of AA's tweet, I recall some people saying it could also mean "last wrap for this season." Guess we'll know a month from tomorrow.

It just occurred to me that she could alternatively have meant "the last wrap, insofar as I am aware, in the foreseeable future, unless of course Steven and Mark aren't telling me something and/or change their minds and decide to bring her back (whatever that may entail) in Series 5."

I know when she tweeted it everyone was saying it meant she was leaving *fingers crossed*
