After I change my screen in order not to snow, I shall wait patiently until the turn of the year for the first episode. As Sherlock Holmes himself would remind us, speculating with insufficient data, and what data are available are undoubtedly corrupted by the binary viruses known as Moftiss, is futile.post-1841-0-48645000-1481477910_thumb.jpeg

Btw, I've since seen other transcripts and they all say it's 'needs winding' too.

I've listened about 20 more times (not obsessed, no, not a bit) and I'm pretty sure now it's "needs winding." Which makes sense. Still not overly funny to me, but at least I get the joke now! :D

Apparently he looks like he's speaking to a barrel of a gun, so is he addressing the person holding the gun?

How can you tell he's facing a gun? To me, it looks as if he's talking to a camera (which he most certainly is IRL, but that's not what I meant).

There is an earlier snippet from the same angle where he puts his face in his hands, and he's holding a gun. I'm guessing this is what Besley saw? But in the "I love you" moment, there's no gun in sight.

I'm really nervous about the end of our collective Sherlock pregnancy. The birth might be difficult and who knows what comes out of this.

And then how long we will have to wait for the next one. If ever.

If THIS birth is that difficult, we might not want another! :D

Did you guys notice? At 0:47, there's a scene that seems to belong to the final one where Sherlock hands John a gun while a third party in a gray suit (could be Mycroft but doesn't look quite like him to me) looks on. Interesting, huh?

Yep, noticed. No, it's not Mycroft.

It's fine.  100X better than the rumor I had heard.

It's their show, they can do anything they like with it, in a (still) free world!

As the warning says in all A03 Sherlock-related stories: 'don't like, don't read' , not complain afterwards.

I have repeatedly said I will watch any Sherlock adaptation at least once. After that, if I don't like it, it's back to Jeremy Brett and Granada Holmes, for the sake of my sanity.

And it's not as if Benedict will vanish off the face of the Earth (orbiting the Sun, as ever), he will go on to Marvel films and The Current Wars. I especially look forward to the last one, since Edison is a very shady character in the whole affair, because of his patents!

Meh, not a name I'd chose but it's not that unusual really. I'm guessing they might shorten it to Rosy or something.

I've always really wanted to see Cumberbatch play Tesla in a movie just about him with Edison clearly being the bad guy. It was in A Performance in a Leading Role, and ever since I thought he'd be amazing for it. Plus despite watching numerous documentaries about him I never feel I know as much about Tesla as I would like. I suppose he could be good as Edison, maybe Tesla would be too much like Turing.

It was pointed out on Tumblr that the 'I love you' background is the same as the one with him holding a gun, though John's posture seems fairly calm is something terrible is about to happen.

It's a very strange room. Like prison or something. On other shots you can see something like beds behind Mycroft and John. Could be MP.

BTW, I've seen the other trailers for S1-3, which I haven't seen before, I have to say that they are not really telling. What we see is most probably not what we think we see.

Agreed. Of course they're misleading us.

As for the baby, I'd like to think that she's named for John's mother.

I like the name. In fairness, not as odd a name as Sherlock is, in my opinion!

That trailer is so hard to read, but they have definitely succeeded in upping the suspense.

Edited to add: Crazy random thought- if that gun scene/ i love you is Sherlock, Mycroft and John, do you think someone might, as a kind of twisted take on his actions with Magnussen, make Sherlock choose between shooting John or Mycroft.

Just makes me think of Rosamund Pike.

Nice theory.  I can see some definite advantages to it, and maybe one disadvantage to that approach.

Pro:  No matter who Sherlock shoots in that sort of scenario, it will be a fan service moment regarding the Sherlock & John (or Sherlock/John) relationship.  One way, he saves John over his brother, and in the other, he tells John he loves him before shooting him.

Con:  We just did a story line with someone getting shot without malice or intent to kill (although Inge may want to have words with me about that interpretation) in Mary shooting Sherlock, so it's treading old ground.

Personally, my first impression was that it was part of another sentence, carefully cropped to make us crazy.  So, I'm half expecting Sherlock to be looking at some piece of evidence and saying, "The most incriminating thing someone can say is...'I love you.'"

John has added no new entries to his blog since the wedding. Before Series 3, he started it up again in late November. Looks like his blog era may be over -- though, as he says in one of those entries, he doesn't write about personal stuff, just cases. And most of what we've seen (or seen hinted at) since then has been personal stuff.

Agreed on the name Pseud.

Bedelia, I like your crazy random thought. Definitely something for the speculation thread.

Suddenly feel really sorry for that baby, not only are her parents murderers but here they actually look like murderers

This got me thinking also, along those lines, I think it could be Sherlock delivering a message for someone else, like 'What did Mary want to say to John, before she was killed/ exiled?' or 'What would John say to his daughter if he could see her again'

Again, I don't know the exact scenario I imagine there, like the villain is forcing Sherlock to act as a go between, or Sherlock is somehow responsible for/ involved Mary going on the run/ dying and has to tell John her last words to him.

And I say that as a non-member of team' let's kill Mary'!

A fairly grim family portrait all right!
