I think I'm going to have to stop going on Tumblr because I've already seen a couple of things today that have made me angry with how ridiculous people are being. I can normally ignore the odd annoying comment and just skip to interesting stuff but it is getting totally beyond.

First of all someone asked Moftiss in their Q&A about when John and Sherlock will be together, yet again, and Moftiss typed out a detailed answer about how they have no issue with a John and a Sherlock being in a relationship however their versions of the characters are not, and still the response on Tumblr was 'oh, how funny they're still trying to fool us by saying it won't happen when it obviously will.' ARGH!

Then I actually saw someone bring up the whole tea equals gay thing - someone asked them in the Q&A something relating to tea and coffee, Moffat replied he's more a coffee man and Gatiss is more a tea man, which they took as meaning Gatiss is a tea man because it's a sign of being gay. The whole tea thing is one of the ridiculous theories that makes me genuinely angry because it is beyond stupid. I am British, I drink tea constantly. My dad hates coffee and only drinks tea, my brothers drink tea, my male and female friends drink tea. Where the hell did it come from that drinking tea is somehow a shorthand version of someone being gay?! It's infuriating.

Yeah, I can't go on Tumblr for this same reason.  The level of vitriol is just so...out of proportion when we are talking about a television show.

And, drinking tea makes you gay?  I assume that there are a number of British citizens, to say nothing of the rest of us around the globe, who are going to find this news to come as something of a shock.

I am now perfectly convinced that they could film an entire episode consisting of nothing but John and Sherlock each independently having relations with their respective wives/girlfriends, and Tumblr would still say it was a red herring to just kill time until the inevitable announcement that the pair ultimately get together.

In tumblr, it all depends on who you choose to follow. In that respect, I cannot consider myself entirely non-partisan, because AtlinMerrick, Anarfea, Francesca Wayland, Ariana de Vere and LockedinJohnlock are great people with a quirky sense of humour. So, I take everything with a pinch of salt and persist in my view that the creators could have scotched, scorched, burned to a cinder any TJLC theory at ComicCon, but chose not to. Chickens come home to roost, and all that.

Well they have certainly quashed it in the latest interview...where was it posted?

Oh yes, scroll back up this page post #1543.

I have heard them say this on more than one occasion and did you watch my link to Mark's interview: post #1537.

I do think they could do without the gay jokes, it was funny at first but it's gone on a bit long now. Saying that were there any in HLV or TAB?

I didn't think there were any in TAB, but others in the fandom managed to find some. Go figure.

I almost hate to admit it, but I still think the jokes are funny...

I rewatched ASiP last night for the first time in months, and yep, they're still funny to me too, and I don't mind admitting it.

Moftiss had a podcast interview today.  Here's one bit:

And here's all the other bits: http://pbstv.tumblr.com/  I'm not sure that link is just for the Q&A, though, so if you follow that link a week or a year from now, you may have to scroll down to find it. (?) (PS ... it's not actually a podcast, just a Twitter-style Q&A.)

"Sherlock is clearly capable of feeling emotion and of falling for someone, but that someone is not John Watson, despite his love and great affection for him."

I may have died a little at this, even if it means nothing...

It was a very good Q&A.  Gatiss was hilarious as always.

I find the gay jokes in the first two seasons funny, it's just it gets to a point that I think 'yea, okay, we get it. People keep thinking they are gay. Ha ha.' It becomes a little too overused for a cheap laugh by season 3.

It does sound suspiciously like a romance for Sherlock, either being revealed as part of his past or as a plot element in series 4. So if I were you, I would probably get my hopes up.

Being me, I feel very grumpy. I don't want a Sherlock Holmes romance. Irene was quite enough. And while the fan questions must be very annoying, there's really no denying that so far, the relationship between the boys has been the central relationship of the story, no matter how platonic. Why change that? Sorry, but for me it's the emotional backbone of the show and much more in character for a Sherlock Holmes incarnation than a traditional romance.

Oh well. Let's all hope it's Molly because that would make a lot of people happy and if none of them is me, I can always filter.

If they do plan to bring in evidence of Sherlock's capacity for love I hope it's through a past relationship rather than a new one. The idea of him being in a romantic relationship now is much too alien to me, and after everything they've said about the new series it sounds like he'll be much too busy dealing with disasters to be getting together with anyone. I don't think it'll happen. Besides it's refreshing to have a main character who isn't interested in getting off with anyone, most shows have their main character, even those who profess not to be interested in relationships or sex, suddenly go 180 and turn into little more than a skirt chaser.

I'm sad they didn't answer my question (not that I'm shocked).  Even if they had answered, it probably would have been a snarky non-answer.

I asked if romance was in store for Sherlock in S4 (i.e. not a fake one for a case).  I figured asking directly about Sherlock and Molly was pointless.  Normally I wouldn't have bothered but between the cryptic 'I love you' and the mention of romance for S4, I had to.  Plus Loo's comment about

a beautiful moment between Sherlock and Molly

.

I'm still not certain I'm getting it, but it's a nice idea.  I loved Gatiss' fav quote:  "All lives end, all hearts are broken. Caring is not an advantage, Sherlock.”

The thing with Sherlock is that he is a different character than when he started, in that he has evolved emotionally.  But he has never been a completely uncaring sod, especially where women are concerned.  i think the first glimpse of this is how he soothed and comforted Sarah after she was nearly killed by Chan's machine.  He didn't comfort her for long, but his words were true and tender, and he even rested a hand assuredly on her shoulder.

I think his mind palace trip in TAB, especially towards the end, shows him just what a brute he has been also to the women in his life who had feelings for him.  In a way, there's a bit of Sir Eustace, Peter Ricoletti, and all the other men who died at the hands of the vengeful brides - in him.

What he does with that new found self knowledge and awareness shall be seen in S4.

One of these days I will finish my analysis of TAB... nearing 10,000 words now.

A better copy of the clip from THE ONE SHOW.

Well, that's pretty much exactly how I expected the Watson family to behave... :-D Mary just isn't the stay at home mom type.

"The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Mrs Watson" ! ACD-non-compliant, but which one of the two creators gives a flying f#%*! Delightful! We should expect S5 to be "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and the Watson Girls".

As if! By that time Sherlock may need a new landlady-not-housekeeper! Unless they make it all about his retirement to Sussex and his apiaries. (Ma petite Fantasy Lover, check out Rebekah's advent videos on YouTube!)
